That would have been dispatched onto a passing train if he'd connected with that.

That would have been dispatched onto a passing train if he'd connected with that.
Jofra Archer has just tried to hit Mitchell Santner onto the South Island.
He missed.

That's three balls that have kept ridiculously low but none of them have been straight.
Remember that talk about how New Zealand would have to battle uneven bounce batting last on day five after England won the toss and made a good start to their innings?
Tim Southee is causing Sam Curran all manner of problems with length deliveries that are keeping very low.
Five days is a long time in cricket.
Curran does get some relief as Southee strays onto the pads and he flicks it fine for four.
Sam Curran smacks a wide one from Tim Southee away at such a pace that Henry Nicholls can't gather it on the fence and it rebounds off him into the fence.
A rare bad bit of fielding from this Kiwi team.
In fact, that's not a man, that's a beetroot with New Zealand cricket whites on.
Look how red Neil Wagner got after dismissing Jos Buttler.

That's a good decision by the umpire.
I got one right!
Yep that was just flicking the outside of leg stump. New Zealand retain their review but Jofra Archer survives.
So, so close though. That kept wickedly low from Santner.
Umpire's call I reckon.

I don't think Santner really thinks that's out. I think he gestured it was going down the leg side.
Yowzer. Mitchell Santner gets one to keep very, very low and strikes Jofra Archer on the pads.
Given not out but Kane Williamson sends it upstairs.
Shot! That's better from Archer - Santner drags it down and Archer dispatches a cut shot away to the fence.
Right on cue, Jofra Archer flays a drive off Mitchell Santner and edges it beyond the diving Tim Southee at slip for four.
The deficit is under 100 now so at least England will only be beaten by an innings and double digit runs.

Jofra batted patiently in the warm-up game and constructed an innings.
Given the shape England are in, I predict Lockie Ferguson will take 25 wickets in the second Test.

Because of Trent Boult's injury, we might get to see Lockie Ferguson in the second Test which will be interesting. He's got a lot of pace.
Sam Curran punches crisply off the back foot but gets nothing for it as Henry Nicholls dives to make a superb stop at point.
And Jofra Archer scoops it up round the corner uncertainly but BJ Watling can't get there in time.
An inauspicious start to the session for England.
Right. Tim Southee to Jofra Archer first up after tea...
