  7. Drizzle returns at Wantage Roadpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 16 September 2019

    Northants 133-5 v Durham - tea

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Chris Rushworth took three quick wickets just after lunch on day one at Wantage Road as Northants slipped from 99-1 to 119-5 in the space of nine overs.

However the drizzle has returned and we are having an early tea with Northants now 133-5.

It was an in-swinger which saw off Alex Wakely when he was on 28. He left the ball from Rushworth and it nipped back in and took his off stump. Rob Keogh fell two balls later for a duck, edging to the keeper.

And Rushworth claimed his 65th wicket of the championship season a short while later when he bowled Ben Curran for 36.

Brydon Carse then returned to the attack and claimed the wicket of Richard Levi with his third ball as he was caught at first slip by Angus Robson.

WICKET Borthwick c Wheater b Porter 21published at 15:01 British Summer Time 16 September 2019

    Essex v Surrey 37-2

An absolute beauty from Jamie Porter.

The Essex paceman gets one to drift in and then nip away from Scott Borthwick and the Surrey left-hander can only nick it through to the keeper.

Porter is on fire, Essex are jubilant.

    Hants 166-7 v Somerset

Four runs to Liam Dawson via a top-edged hook off Lewis Gregory.

At the other end, Dom Bess is into his sixth over.

Keith Barker sweeps. Dawson wants three and they'll get three. Good running.

A single to Dawson just wide of Tom Abell on the off side.

Barker tries a reverse sweep this time and misses.

Despite the damp overhead conditions at Chelmsford, the outfield remains speedy.

Mark Stoneman simply pushes at one from Jamie Porter and the ball flies off the middle and to the rope.

The left-hander then clips the paceman off his legs for another four.

    Early frustration for Essex.

He's done it! Darren Stevens brings up his 12th four to reach a superb counter-attacking century off 129 balls.

Three sixes in that innings. A rich vein of form for the veteran - who scored 88 and took ten wickets last week against Notts.

Surrey have made a decent start after choosing to bat in overcast conditions.

Mark Stoneman set the tone with a glorious cover drive to the rope in Jamie Porter's first over.

Essex paceman Sam Cook is sharing the new ball with Porter.

    Hants 147-7 v Somerset

This is a very handy knock from Keith Barker.

His highest score is 125, you know.

He square-drives Lewis Gregory but the ball is intercepted at backward point by Davey.
