    Notts 155-2 v Warwickshire

Notts captain Steven Mullaney brings up a superb century off just 93 balls at Trent Bridge.

The 32-year-old gets there with a 19th four - albeit a streaky edge through the slips off Oliver Hannon-Dalby.

He'll be desperate to go on and give his side a chance of picking up a first win of the season.

  7. Lucky break for Hampshirepublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 16 September 2019

    Hants 83-6 v Somerset

A slice of luck for Hampshire as Liam Dawson gets away with a thick edge off Lewis Gregory which runs down to third man for four.

After a dream start there's a concern for Somerset - as Craig Overton appears to be limping a little between deliveries at the other end.

  8. Billings and Stevens at the crease for Kentpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 16 September 2019

    Yorks v Kent 117-5

The sun is out here at Headingley.

Sam Billings picks up four first ball after lunch with a drive through point.

He then leaves Olivier outside the off stump - but that ball is jagging back into the batsman ever closer in the over.

A flick off the pads brings one to fine leg.

Steve Patterson to bowl at the other end.

Still no news from Essex, where it's gloomy. Very gloomy.

    Derbyshire 43-2 v Sussex - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    Sports reporter, BBC Sussex

Heavy overnight rain meant play was delayed until noon with 16 overs lost in the day

Sussex skipper Ben Brown chose to field and was rewarded in the second over when Chris Jordan had Luis Reece caught in the slips for a duck

Reece Topley making his Sussex Championship debut then picked up the wicket of Billy Godleman brilliantly caught by Phil Salt at slip

Sussex leading wicket taker Ollie Robinson only bowled four overs before leaving the field unwell, although he did return to the field just before lunch.

    Yorks v Kent 112-5

Darren Stevens continues to rise to the occasion in what is to be his final season with Kent.

A valuable 51 in a partnership of 73 with Sam Billings has helped Kent get out of the mire after falling to 39-5 in seaming and swinging conditions. 4-30 for Duanne Olivier.

Billings is not out on 33. Olivier will try to make it five wickets...

  13. Play resumes at Southamptonpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 16 September 2019

    Hants 75-6 v Somerset

This has been a great session of play for Championship leaders Somerset - who already have two bowling bonus points to stretch their lead over second-placed Essex to 10.

Remember, Essex are still waiting to get on to the field at Chelmsford where bad light has held up their match against Surrey.

Hampshire at least avoided "beating" their lowest ever score of 44 this morning.

Liam Dawson resumes on 35. Lewis McManus has seven.

  15. Topley takes a wicket!published at 12:59 British Summer Time 16 September 2019

    Derbyshire 43-2 v Sussex

Reece Topley makes a breakthrough in his third over.

The left-armer gets one to swing away from Billy Godleman and the Derbyshire opener nicks it to second slip.

Needless to say, that's his first County Championship wicket in more than two years.

  16. 'Drizzle causing problems'published at 12:55 British Summer Time 16 September 2019

    Northants 75-1 v Durham - lunch

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

The drizzle which is sweeping across the south east has been causing problems at Wantage Road where only 24.4 overs have been possible.

With the lights on and mizzle in the air Durham put Northants in expecting quick wickets. However the track is fairly flat and their openers got off to a decent start as they put on 50 in 13 overs.

The partnership ended when Ben Raine had Rob Newton caught at first slip on 26. But Ben Curran and Alex Wakely then steered the hosts to 75-1 when the drizzle returned. The umpires took the players off three minutes before the break as the light started to deteriorate again.

It could well be a stop start afternoon in Northampton.

  17. 'Brathwaite digs in for Glamorgan'published at 12:49 British Summer Time 16 September 2019

    Glamorgan 82-1 v Leics - lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

It’s been a sedate first session in Cardiff where Glamorgan made solid progress after being put in on a pitch showing plenty of grass and a few cracks.

Glamorgan fielded an extra spinner in Andrew Salter while the Foxes left out Callum Parkinson.

Nick Selman and Kraigg Brathwaite, making his home debut, had relatively few alarms in a sedate stand of 62 for the first wicket.

Selman finally accelerated with three boundaries through the leg side off Ben Mike to reach 36, but promptly slapped a wide ball outside off to cover.

Brathwaite reached lunch on 20 off 83 balls, with David Lloyd on 15.

  18. Topley makes rare appearancepublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 16 September 2019

    Derbyshire 34-1 v Sussex

    Reece TopleyImage source, Rex Features

Reece Topley is making his first appearance in four-day cricket since May 2017 today for Sussex. The 25-year-old was playing for Hampshire back then.

The former England left-arm seamer has just come into the attack, conceding five off his first over.

Sussex are one of five teams chasing two promotion places in Division Two.

  19. 'Mullaney dominates for changed Notts side'published at 12:44 British Summer Time 16 September 2019

    Notts 136-2 v Warwickshire - lunch

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Steven Mullaney found his touch on the opening morning.

The Notts’ club captain, who has recently returned to action after knee surgery, is undefeated on 90.

Mullaney passed 50 in only 48 balls and has already hit 17 boundaries in his two-hour knock.

With their relegation already confirmed, Notts chose to ring the changes and rest several players ahead of their T20 Blast Finals Day commitments at the weekend.

Three players were given a first-class debut, including Ben Compton, cousin of former England batsman Nick, who made 14 before being bowled by Will Rhodes.

Jack Blatherwick, who has made two one-day appearances for the county, was also selected, as was Joey Evison, who at 17 years and 301 days is the first player born in the 2000s to represent Notts.

Chris Nash, at the other end of his playing career, was bowled by Henry Brookes without scoring.

Joe Clarke, who has struggled for runs this summer, has so far helped Mullaney add 61 for the third wicket and is unbeaten on 32 at the break.
