Paul in Birmingham, if the only way to get it out was to throw it off the balcony, how did you get it in?

I'm not convinced your wife will appreciate you telling us that, Steve.

Sibley has his collar up and his legs spread as he waits for Nortje. Short leg lingers, just around the corner. The man under in the helmet, Pieter Malan, is in the game when Sibley tries to set off, only to have to dive back into his ground. There's an over to go before lunch.

You HAVE to do the inside out thing to get the duvet in, don't you? I get my hands into the corners of the cover and then my wife insists on going "Nyum-yum-yum", as she 'feeds' me the duvet corners! So annoying...

South Africa have got to be careful that this doesn't fall apart. Pretorius serves up a low full toss that Denly bunts away for another boundary. Keeper Quinton de Kock comes up to the stumps to make Denly stay at home. It must soon be time for some spin.

Lived in a second floor flat, only way to dispose of old tree was to throw it over balcony then pick up at the other end. Underestimated the blast radius of what would happen to the needles.

There are some quaint features to Newlands. TV camera operatives are posted in turrets at the top of the stands. Lovely. Nortje v Denly is a battle of zinced faces. Denly pinches a single, which allows Sibley to pull for four. England's lead nears 100.

Roger Williams: Thousands of Christmas tree needles inside the duvet cover. For months and months. I don't think so.

Good point. Do you still do the inside-out, grabbing-the-corners technique?

Incidentally, the hardest thing I've ever done was put the cover back on to the mattress of a sofa bed. It was like trying to move a tranquilised grizzly bear.

This is a little win for England. Rabada withdrawn, the much gentler Dwaine Pretorius into the attack. Pretorius, a tattoo of '12-08-12' on the inside of his left bicep, first gets one to leap at Sibley, who responds with a sweet drive through wide mid-on for four.

TV is showing a good still of the Crawley dismissal. He was trying to drive through the off side, but had the face of the bat closed, looking towards the on side. Much more likely to get an edge. As Nortje bowls to Denly, England batting coach Graham Thorpe watches through the biggest pair of binoculars I have ever seen. Remember Dom Joly's massive mobile phone? Thorpe has the equivalent set of binoculars.

The wind is up. Rabada is using it to charge in with the pace of a man running for the last train. Sibley is the man having to deal with the thunder, earning warm applause when he manages to take a single. Denly, looking increasingly at home in Test cricket, drives down the ground for four. That might be it for Rabada's first spell.
