This Australia side is full of all-rounders, coach Matthew Mott likes multi-dimensional athletes. I'm sure Annabel Sutherland wasn't expecting to play in a T20 World Cup so soon.

There's a decent crowd in. The ground isn't full, but there are certainly more red seats populated than not. Offie Gardner is round the wicket to both the right and left-hander, India still only dieting on a diet of singles. Stalemate. Something will have to give soon.

Alyssa Healy's been pretty sharp behind the stumps tonight - though she did have that fumble which resulted in the stumping. She's set a very high bar for herself in her performances in the last couple of years - she was player of the tournament the last time this was played, in the West Indies in 2018.

  4. Ind 76-3published at 12 overs

Kimmince has blonde hair and a slingy action. When the ball is back of a length, Sharma can't muscle it off the square. Singles, singles, singles. All quite subdued. Is it fair to wonder if this track is right for the opening to a big tournament? Then again, it might produce a thriller....

Deepti Sharma does have a top ODI score of 188.

But that's the first boundary for India since the wicket fell in the fifth over.

  6. Ind 70-3published at 11 overs

Finally, a boundary. The first since the final ball of the fourth over. Deepti Sharma sweeps the new bowler, off-spinner Ashleigh Gardner. There's a big dive from the fielder at deep square leg, but the ball still hits the rope. Nevertheless, there's only been 30 runs in the past seven overs.

It's great to see the smiles on the Australians' faces. They weren't smiling earlier, but they're right on top now. It's a very well-balanced side, Meg Lanning has a lot of bowlers to call on.

  8. Ind 63-3published at 10 overs

More meds, this time in the shape of Delissa Kimmince. Bandage on her right arm, straying down the leg side, but a Rodrigues sweep still can't find that elusive boundary. One thing to note with the slowness of the pitch is that the chase could be tricky. If India can get to 130, it might be game on.

It's been a real turnaround, after the first four overs went for 40.

  10. Ind 57-3published at 9 overs

Megan Schutt and her nagging medium pace. Ideal in these slow conditions. Absolutely nothing for the batters to work with. No speed, no width. India sit in, taking the singles, not willing to look for the big shots that might risk further damage, Australia not displeased to see six singles. Still waiting for another boundary....

Deepti Sharma is key for India now - she's a quality batter in the middle order. They can't afford a run-out at this stage with three wickets down so early, they've got to be smart in these middle overs.

  12. Ind 51-3published at 8 overs

Rebuilding for India now. All the momentum sucked from the innings, a previously rowdy crowd silenced as darkness falls. Ellyse Perry again. She's already had an interesting evening. A dropped catch off her bowling, then the key wicket of Shafali Verma. We've gone 24 deliveries without a boundary.

Harmanpreet will be bemoaning her luck - but ultimately, she was out of her ground and she missed the ball.

  14. Ind 49-3published at 7 overs

Some glum faces in the India dugout. Deepti Sharma is the latest arrival. 9-3 in the last three overs.

Healy will be pleased with that, it's a ricochet off her left knee. Does that go down as run out, or stumped? India are in trouble.

Verma lit up this stadium with some of her strokeplay, but some of India's megastars are back in the shed now.

Harmanpreet st Healy b Jonassen 2 (Ind 47-3)

Unbelievable. The wheels are coming off for India, but what a stroke of fortune for Australia. Alyssa Healy is nowhere near this stumping chance, yet the ball comes back off her left knee and hits the stumps, with Harmanpreet Kaur miles out after a wild dance and swing. Three wickets in three overs.

  17. Ind 46-2published at 6 overs

The India power keeps coming. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur joins the party, getting under way with a wristy turn to mid-wicket for a couple. The end of the powerplay. The last two overs have yielded two wickets, but only six runs.

You don't see Ellyse Perry react like that very often, you can tell how big that wicket was. Shafali Verma was entertaining the Indian fans, but Perry's got the better of her there. But the Jonassen over, which only had two runs, stemmed the flow.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5.3 overs

    Verma c Sutherland b Perry 29 (Ind 43-2)

The youngster goes! Shafali Verma had batted wonderfully, but this is a pretty tame way to fall, shovelling a short ball to mid-on. Australia have taken two wickets in two overs. They were rattled, but have roared back.

It's pitching in line, but missing down leg. A great review by India, great by Verma to get her team-mate to refer it.
