Sri Lanka will be backing themselves to get 150. That is what they should aim for. This is a good batting track.

  2. SL 96-2published at 13 overs

    Sanjeewani 13, Madavi 7

Leigh Kasperek back into the attack, and Madavi starts well, smashing the former Scotland spinner through the covers for four. Some good hustle brings four singles - Sri Lanka are four short of a century.

  3. SL 88-2published at 12 overs

Harshitha Madavi, another leftie, out at number four. Having removed the dangerous openers, can New Zealand put the brakes on?

Atapattu is livid with herself. If she went through with the shot, that would have sailed over the infield. Instead, she checked herself.

    Atapattu c & b Tahuhu 41 (SL 87-2)

The soft signal is out - and upheld. Atapattu is sent on her way - and the Sri Lanka captain looks furious with herself, smashing her bat against her pad a t having given a rather soft dismissal when well set.

  6. Umpire reviewpublished at 11:48 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2020

What's going on here? Atapattu plays the ball back to Tahuhu. New Zealand claim a caught-and-bowled, Atapattu claims a bump ball, and the umpires aren't sure - ump Sue Redfern goes upstairs to her colleague...

  7. SL 87-1published at 11.3 overs

It's a change of ends for Lea Tahuhu - can the NZ pace spearhead be inspired by switching to the end associated with the great Dennis Lillee? Not by the look of it - as she starts by firing down a couple of legside wides. Sanjeewani helps herself to a two and a single.

  8. SL 82-1published at 11 overs

Atapattu's innings is a bit binary at the moment - she's either playing and missing, or hitting boundaries?

The fifth ball of Jensen's over is a play-and-miss. The last is lofted over square leg for Atapattu's fifth four. The Sri Lanka captain has 41 from 28 balls.

Here's the only wicket to fall so far:

  10. SL 78-1published at 10.4 overs

Sanjeewani tips-and-runs a single, fortune continues to favour Atapattu as a flashing outside edge goes to third man for a single. Jensen tries a shorter delivery which Sanjeewani pulls for one.

And here's the first of those sixes from Atapattu:

As we reach the halfway stage in Sri Lanka's innings, here's what you missed by not being with us at 07:00 GMT for West Indies v Thailand...

  13. SL 75-1published at 10 overs

Atapattu rides her luck a little, with a play-and-miss while also profiting from a misfield. But Sri Lanka reach the halfway stage of their innings with only one wicket down - can they be looking towards a challenging score like 140-150?

It's not easy to sweep at the Waca because of the bounce, but these two have played it particularly well.

  15. 6 runs

    SL 71-1published at 9.2 overs

Atapattu gets down on one knee and slog-sweeps Amelia Kerr over square leg for another massive six - which is measured at 70 metres. That's six, even if they were playing with the men's boundaries.

I love the Sri Lanka intent. It's not just about fours and sixes, you have to run well.

  17. SL 64-1published at 9 overs

    Atapattu 27, Sanjeewani 4

Hayley Jensen is New Zealand's sixth bowler in the space of nine overs. From the Kiwi production line of right-arm medium-pace seamers. And after Sanjeewani steers her first ball for two, there's a big, big, long, confident appeal for lbw as Sanjeewani tries to force the ball across the line... but the White Ferns opt to keep their review in the bank. And the TV ball-tracker shows it was the correct decision.

A tidy over from Jensen - just three runs from it.

  18. SL 61-1published at 8 overs

Anushka Sanjeewani, Sri Lanka's wicketkeeper, is in at three. She's off the mark with a single.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7.4 overs

    Perera b A Kerr 20 (SL 60-1)

New Zealand turn to the leg-spin of Amelia Kerr - and she makes the breakthrough as Perera tries a bloodthirsty sweep shot and is bowled!
