  1. SA 54-1published at 10 overs

You just feels like something has to give here. South Africa are ticking along, albeit it at a pace that will need to be upped. England need a wicket. We'll either see a breakthrough or some acceleration. Bad mistake from Brunt, diving over one that goes for four through the off side. South Africa need 70 from the final 10.

If Sciver's going to bowl that full, she needs to change the field. Rather than third man and fine leg, she needs a long-on and long-off.

  3. SA 47-1published at 9 overs

    Target 124

Back comes Nat Sciver. With Amy Jones standing up to the stumps, the keeper is troubled by a very high bouncer, one that is called wide. There are big areas of empty space on the leg side, and both of these right-handers are able to work the ball into the gaps. Nine from the over. England need a wicket.

There's not really any need for these two to be running like that. They're both unbelievable players, and if one of them gets out, South Africa could be in real trouble as they don't bat as deep as England and need these two to bat as long as they can.

  5. SA 38-1published at 8 overs

    Target 124

More spin, this time the leggies of Sarah Glenn. Slightly round arm, ducking her head as she bowls, no great turn but signs of bounce. South Africa aren't keen to get after her just yet. An attempt at two from the final ball is pretty tight. Kapp has to get a real move on, but Glenn can't gather the ball.

Something I like about Sophie Ecclestone is that she fields really well off her own bowling.

  7. SA 32-1published at 7 overs

Spin for the first time, Sophie Ecclestone. The leg-side field is packed, so the left-armer has to bowl straight. When the line is fractionally too wide, Kapp delicately late cuts for four. South Africa have taken 22 off the last three overs.

That was a perfect shot by Kapp, absolutely rocketed to the boundary.

  9. SA 26-1published at 6 overs

    Target 124

Incredible shot. perhaps the best of the day so far. Last ball of the over, Kapp drives Brunt through the covers, on the up, for four. Like watching Sachin Tendulkar.

10/350: Women have traditionally been excellent at working the ball, finding gaps. Already noticed in this T20WC a tendency to try & slog/muscle the ball to the boundary. Shame, it added a different dimension to the game IMHO.

  11. SA 21-1published at 5.4 overs

    Target 124

Katherine Brunt comes back, Ven Niekerk using her feet, but unable to manufacture a big shot. This is good from Brunt, cleverly altering her length to keep Van Niekerk guessing. Four dots.

Three overs in a row is sometimes one too many for a bowler in T20, the batters will get their eye in against you.

  13. SA 21-1published at 5 overs

    Target 124

Four more! Van Niekerk is getting across her stumps, playing with the swing, this time fetching a sweep in front of square for a boundary. 11 runs from Shrubsole's third over.

She's taken a few steps outside off stump and absolutely nailed that. Just shows you the power Van Niekerk has, she's a genuine all-rounder and her batting has exploded over the past 18 months.

  15. 6 runs

    SA 16-1published at 4.1 overs

Bosh! That's massive from Van Niekerk, Shrubsole picked up over mid-wicket and on to the grass bank for six.

One of those catches where she needed to take one or two more steps behind - she got a decent piece of it, but couldn't hold on.

  17. dropped catch

Kapp dropped on 0published at 4 overs

    SA 10-1

Pressure shot! Should have been gone, too. Marizanne Kapp completely tied up by new bowler Nat Sciver, eventually leading to chip towards mid-on. Lauren Winfield back pedals, gets her hands high, but the ball bursts through. South Africa are stuck.

Mark Burt: That batting performance reminded me of the Ashes. Very passive (with the exception of the brilliant Sciver) and lacking a coherent strategy, perfectly illustrated by a potential world beater like Beaumont batting at seven. England’s bowlers need to do a rescue job.

  19. SA 6-1published at 3 overs

    Target 124

Marizanne Kapp is South Africa's number three, joining her captain and wife Dane van Niekerk in the middle.
