  1. Team line-upspublished at 10:41 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

The England batting order, as per the XI they've tweeted (which looks a lot more logical than the TV one), is:

Amy Jones (wk), Danni Wyatt, Heather Knight (capt), Natalie Sciver, Tammy Beaumont, Fran Wilson, Lauren Winfield, Katherine Brunt, Anya Shrubsole, Sophie Ecclestone, Sarah Glenn.

    South Africa go with:

Lizelle Lee, Laura Wolvaardt, Marizanne Kapp, Dane van Niekerk (capt), Mignon du Preez, Chloe Tryon, Sune Luus, Trisha Chetty (wk), Shabnim Ismail, Ayabonga Khaka, Nonkululeko Mlaba.

Teams are in - the TV graphics are showing England with a very bizarre batting order indeed. But the team is largely as we expected.

Suffice to say, from their 15-strong squad, they've left out Georgia Elwiss, Kate Cross, Freya Davies and Mady Villiers - that quartet will be carrying the drinks today.

South Africa bowling first seems... strange to me. I watched New Zealand bat against Sri Lanka under the lights last night and I thought it got a little slower and more difficult to bat on. I guess we'll see...

  4. Captain's viewpublished at 10:35 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

England captain Heather Knight: "We'd have done the same, but I think it's going to be a good pitch regardless. When you have a series like the Ashes that doesn't go to plan, it gives you the chance to sit down and decide what you want to change. We've got a new coach and some younger players."

  5. Captain's viewpublished at 10:35 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk: "In the past when we have played here in the Big Bash, it's quite difficult to defend. Hopefully we can restrict them to a good total.

"I didn't know that I was going to be able to pick a full strength side, so I'm really happy about that. Hopefully we can play really well today."

  6. Tosspublished at 10:33 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

Dane van Niekerk calls correctly - South Africa win the toss and field first.

  7. Here's what happened yesterday... (part two)published at 10:32 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

And then New Zealand saw off Sri Lanka, who impressed precisely no-one with their fielding, dropping a couple of catches:

While we wait for the toss and team news, a little recap from Saturday's games.

West Indies were given an almighty scare by Thailand, who impressed everyone with their fielding, but the Windies eventually won through:

  9. Time to 'stop the talking'published at 10:24 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

"We're ready to get going now - stop the talking, stop the training and get the World Cup kicking off," England captain Heather Knight told BBC Sport in the build-up.

"We were watching [India v Australia] from afar. I think it shows this tournament is going to be a very good one.

"Anyone can beat anyone. We saw in our warm-up loss to Sri Lanka that if you're not completely on it, you can get found out in international conditions.

"It was a little reminder for us that we're really going to have to be on top of our game to win those key matches."

Morning, everyone. Hope you enjoyed your lie-in (unless you were following the Fury-Wilder fight - I'll not give you any spoilers in case you've not seen the result).

It's day three of the Women's T20 World Cup - and time for England, resplendent in their new red kit, to enter the competition. The opposition before them is South Africa - a team you underestimate at your peril these days. Play gets under way at 11:00 GMT.
