There is a huge section of the crowd who erupted as the ball crashed into the stumps.

Everyone knew how important this over was, India have managed to sneak a wicket in and put New Zealand under a bit more pressure in this run chase.

  2. NZ 30-2published at 6 overs

    Target 134

Maddy Green, who shelled a couple of chances in the field, is in at four. Powerplay concluded.

    Bates b Sharma 6 (NZ 30-2)

Oh, why did she play that stroke? Bates steps across to the off side, trying to shovel the ball to leg - but edges it onto the stumps and is bowled, to the delight of the noisy group of India fans inside the Junction Oval. In the context of the game, there didn't seem the need to go all unorthodox at that point.

  4. NZ 30-1published at 5.3 overs

Now, despite two excellent overs from Pandey, India keep her last two up their sleeves (remember, she's their only front-line seamer today) - and turn back to Deepti Sharma, who took a bit of a pasting from Rachel Priest in the first over.

Two singles keep the score going.

I think this is a big over. Both teams need a big powerplay as Poonam Yadav doesn't bowl during the powerplay.

The more New Zealand score now, the less they have to score off her.

  6. NZ 28-1published at 5 overs

    Devine 10, Bates 5

New Zealand's Adelaide Strikers duo keep the score ticking - they need 106 more from 15 overs.

That is brilliant batting. Rajeshwari Gayakwad had slowed her delivery, so Devine had to wait for a second before hitting her shot.

  8. NZ 26-1published at 4.2 overs

Devine breaks the shackles, hoisting Gayakwad over the top for a first-bounce four. Powerful stroke.

  9. NZ 22-1published at 4 overs

    Target 134

Miserly bowling from Pandey, who's not taken aback by Bates running down the track at her - though the Kiwis run a two to third man, Pandey's two overs have cost just four runs.

Bates is the leading run-scorer in T20 World Cup tournaments - and is now just two away from the 900 mark.

Here's the first couple of four of the innings by Rachel Priest, before she was caught at mid-wicket:

  11. Not outpublished at 3.2 overs

    NZ 20-1

Wickets missing! Devine survives as the ball-tracker suggests it would have just missed leg stump. So India lose their review, and New Zealand profit by a leg-bye.

  12. India reviewpublished at 3.2 overs

Bates comes down the track - Pandey has a slip in, but Bates tries to hit her off her length. Single taken. Then there's a big appeal for lbw against Devine, India like this and they quickly call for a review...

It's been great to see how this tournament is so open. There are so many narratives building.

  14. NZ 18-1published at 3 overs

    Target 134

India will have to rotate their spinners today, with a lack of seam in their side - it's slow left-armer Rajeshwari Gayakwad into the attack. Bates patiently gets her eye in, before tapping a quick single to cover. Gayakwad then strays down the leg side, and Devine expertly clips it off her legs for four.

  15. NZ 13-1published at 2 overs

The vastly experienced Suzie Bates in at three - she and Devine have plenty of experience of these Australian grounds from their time in the Women's Big Bash League.

A great over for Pandey - one run and one wicket from it.

That was not an easy catch, it went a mile high and into overcast skies. It takes a good fielder to take that catch and Radha Yadav is the person to do that job.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1.4 overs

    Priest c Radha b Pandey 12 (NZ 13-1)

Priest takes the aerial route against Indian Air Force officer Pandey - but the ball swirls in the air and Radha Yadav does well to hold on to a steepler on the circle at mid-wicket. An early scalp for India.

  18. NZ 13-0published at 1.1 overs

Shikha Pandey, fresh from her fielding heroics last over, adjusts her headband before bowling the second over. As the only front-line seamer in this India side, it's important she bowls well in the powerplay - and Sophie Devine knocks her first ball for a single.

  19. NZ 12-0published at 1 over

    Target 134

Deepti Sharma pulls out of her next delivery - but if it was designed to put Rachel Priest off, it hasn't worked as the powerful Kiwi slog-sweeps her second four of the over. 12 from it - nearly double the required rate.

  20. NZ 8-0published at 0.4 overs

Priest sweeps, the boundary is cut off but New Zealand come back for two. Another sweep - this one flies over the wicketkeeper off a top edge, and despite the attentions of two fielders, has that touched the rope? No - Shikha Pandey just cut it off in time. Two taken.
