Ash Gardner is the surprising choice for the final over.

Ex-Australia leg-spinner on BBC Test Match Special

This is good captaincy by Meg Lanning. She knew she had to find one over from somewhere, but she went with her best bowlers first up so that she made it a tough ask for New Zealand, rather than giving them a sniff.

  3. NZ 136-7published at 19 overs

    Target 156

Leigh Kasperek runs a leg-bye off the final ball of the penultimate over but Australia won't mind that. It keeps Katey Martin off strike.

New Zealand need 20 from the final six balls to win, reach the semi-finals and knock out Australia.

  5. NZ 134-7published at 18.4 overs

New Zealand are like a fly that spends a full day buzzing around your living room. They won't go away. It's surely too big an ask but Katey Martin finds a boundary to keep us interested.

It would need something dramatic to beat the Aussies from here.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.2 overs

    Peterson b Schutt 9 (NZ 129-7)

Never bet against the Australians. They know how to win when it matters. Megan Schutt nips in with her third to all-but wrap this up.

Anna Peterson is clean bowled having a big swing.

Georgia Wareham has been fantastic for Australia and I wouldn't mind seeing another spinner join her in the team for the semis.

  9. NZ 128-6published at 18 overs

    Target 156

New Zealand need 28 from the final two overs to win.

  10. NZ 126-6published at 17.5 overs

To New Zealand's credit they've kept on fighting this match. Anna Peterson finds four with an ugly swipe.

    30 from 15 balls needed.

  11. NZ 122-6published at 17.4 overs

Alyssa Healy misses out on what would have been a third stumping. It was difficult down the leg side so I'll let her off.

    34 from 16 balls needed.

  12. NZ 118-6published at 17.2 overs

Sophie Devine is biting her nails in the New Zealand dug out. It looks like the White Ferns race is run.

  13. NZ 116-6published at 17 overs

    Need 40 from 18 balls

There'll be no hat-trick but the last 10 minutes have probably won this game for Australia. They're going to scrap through to the semi-finals unless something remarkable happens.

Katey Martin will face the hat-trick ball...

I sense a calmness coming over the Australia fans in the crowd now.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.5 overs

    Jensen c Carey b Schutt 0 (NZ 115-6)

    Two in two!

Megan Schutt is on a hat-trick. What a turnaround from that drop a few minutes ago.

Hayley Jensen chips the ball straight to Nic Carey at mid-off. They're loving this in Melbourne now.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.4 overs

    Kerr b Schutt 2 (NZ 115-5)

Australia are closing in. Amelia Kerr has little choice but to come in and swing from the off and she misses a straight one. It's good bowling from Schutt. If you miss, she'll hit.

    It's a big ask now.

  18. NZ 115-4published at 16.3 overs

Edged for four! New Zealand won't care how they get them.

    41 from 21 balls needed.

  19. NZ 109-4published at 16 overs

    Target 156

Georgia Wareham is 20 years old. She has taken 3-17 under the biggest pressure to put Australia on the brink of the semi-finals.

Really disappointing there from Green. She didn't play the percentages.
