A first real sign of encouragement for Roston Chase as the off-spinner finds a bit of turn, tempting Burns to come forward and play inside the line.
The England opener had it covered but encouraging for West Indies. And for Dom Bess.

Lots of activity in the bubble this morning, as today was the day for the latest round of coronavirus tests. A van pulled up on the car park and we all queued outside. If you've not had one done, it involves a swab of the throat and nose. They aren't shy with how much they poke, either...

This morning it seems as though West Indies know they are in for the long haul. There has been some conserving of energy.
Sibley 16, Burns 34
West Indies captain Jason Holder brings himself on to break up this England partnership.
But Holder goes short and wide, easy pickings for Burns who send the ball crashing through point for four.
And with that, the 50 is up for England.

Test Match Special statistician
Burns has reached 30 in both innings and he is the first England opener to do that in a home Test since Alastair Cook's last match in September 2018.
He is the first opener other than Cook to do that since Andrew Strauss in 2012.
Back to Steven in Radlett. Did you take a picture of the mouse? Did it say "cheeeese?"
Sorry.
A loose first over from Chase. He bowls a tad too short and Burns guides it past a diving John Campbell for three runs.

It is important to see how Roston bowls. It will give us some idea of how Bess will go on the last day too.
Chase has that extra bit of height.
This should be a good test for Sibley.
Time for some spin with Roston Chase replacing Roach. West Indies trying something different here to find that breakthrough.

Found a dead mouse congealed on to the rubber of my bat handle. Didn't do my average any good.
Steven in Radlett
Gabriel mops up some sweat from his forehead to shine the ball. Remember, no saliva allowed. Mark Wood said the other day the England bowlers had been using back sweat. I still don't know if he was being serious or not.
Burns pushes back past the bowler for a single and Sibley clips off the pads for one more.
These two have been running well this morning. Good intent.

James: Rory Burns is England’s best Test match opener since Sir Alastair Cook.
Alastair Cook
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special
It has been a very good start by England. I can't remember a play and miss. It has been very calm and composed.
That will be the commentator's curse now...
Rory Burns is on it this morning.
A firm-handed bottom hand punch off Roach races down to the mid-on boundary.
This has been a positive start by England. Scoring at a decent rate, dispatching the bad balls.

First game of the season - what's the weirdest thing anyone has found left in the bag from the year before? I once found my mate's iPhone tucked in the back of a pad. This is maybe the first he knows of it!

Sibley had earned the right for that boundary. The key to batting is riding that storm and putting the ball away when you get a bad ball.
Burns 19, Sibley 14
Am I the only one who actually likes the smell of deep heat?
A boundary apiece for the England openers.
Shot of the day from Burns as he waits back and drives Gabriel beautifully through the covers for four.
Then Sibley leans in and clips a full, leg side, delivery down to mid-wicket. It was there to be hit, a gimme from Gabriel.

There might be a lot of deep heat used today.

We should get messages in to TMS today about how many muscles are pulled in club cricket today.
Great suggestion, Mike. But I think you need to overcome that shyness and lead from the front.
Burns nicely works Roach off the pads and into mid-wicket as England slowly reduce that first-innings deficit.
It's all been pretty comfortable so far for Burns and Sibley.
