It is 1-0 West Indies this morning. West Indies have played nicely and had a bit of fortune.

I was surprised England didn't start with Sam Curran with the fact he was the wicket-taker two evenings ago.

    Full credit to West Indies.

Two fine shots from Shai Hope.

  4. WI 81-2published at 28 overs

Now then. Bit of aggresion from Sam Curran as he fields the ball in his follow through and then lobs it back in Shai Hope's general direction, with the batsman playing outside his crease.

Hope's response is to get down on one knee and flay the most gorgeous of drives away for four.

    Shot!

Well, that's a nice way to get yourself off the mark! Full, wide, and carved through the covers for four by Shai Hope.

James: Ollie Pope, England’s best short leg fielder since James Taylor!

  7. WI 73-2published at 27 overs

Nice from Kraigg Brathwaite, using his feet to shuffle down the pitch and drive a lovely couple of runs through mid-off.

  9. WI 71-2published at 26 overs

Shai Hope is desperate to get off the mark as he pushes a couple of nice looking shots away off Sam Curran, but he picks out the fielder every time.

Beautiful delivery - drift, spun through the gate. That was beautiful stuff.

There is definitely some spin there for Bess.

  12. WI 70-2published at 25 overs

Shai Hope is the new man at the crease for West Indies.

Nice field, this, for Dom Bess, with slip, short leg and leg slip all crouched, ready and waiting. And that's a beauty from Bess! Sharp spin, completely beating Hope as he fends forward and leaves a huge gap between bat and pad, and it's just spun over the top of the stumps.

It's spun so sharply that it's almost wiped Joe Root out at leg slip.

    Carlos Brathwaite
West Indies all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

That is a very good catch. Fantastic stuff. There's a lot of pressure on Bess and he's now faced with the task of getting the majority of those 19 wickets.

    And Dom Bess strikes!

Alzarri Joseph is trudging off like he's been dismissed for 200. It's a nice bit of bowling from Bess, a little quicker, some turn out of the rough, and Joseph fends it to short leg, where Ollie Pope takes a smart, one-handed grab.

I'm staying on the same floor as the West Indies team, so there are few clues as to what is going on in the tourists' bubble. Phil Simmons gets a lot of post, while someone sent a Leicester City shirt to the hotel laundry.

Sam Curran doesn't half get through an over quickly. He's whizzed through six balls in the time it's taken me to put some hand sanitiser on.
