We were written off in the semi-final against India in the T20 World Cup, there were about six people in the stadium cheering for us.

Looking back at my figures with the ball I think I actually did a damn good job. Dinesh Ramdin missed an easy chance to run out Virat Kohli and I thought, "Oh god this could cost us the World Cup".

Kohli bowled the last over and Andre Russell hit him from Mumbai to Kolkata and the stadium fell silent. You could hear my wife screaming as the ball was going for six.

    Well worth listening back.

If you're wondering where in the world are the likes of Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes on that list...

With so much cricket now packed into such a short time this summer and, given the restrictions necessary in ensuring a bio-secure environment, the Test and ODI squads have been separated.

So the world champions in the current Test squad will be sticking with the team to face Pakistan in a three-Test series that starts on 5 August.

Joe Denly obviously was with the Test squad but was released on 24 July to then join up with the white-ball group.

Reserves: Richard Gleeson (Lancashire), Lewis Gregory (Somerset), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire).

All three matches will take place at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton behind closed doors in a bio-secure environment.

Chris Gayle sat out in the loss against Afghanistan and at the end of the game he let us have it.

Phil Simmons didn't come in and berate us, when we came into the changing room Chris stood up for 10 minutes and he was the only person talking. That showed the passion that he had. It could have been easy to say, 'We're through already it doesn't matter,' but we saw the other side of Chris Gayle.

In happier news compared to a the rain falling here, there are more spectators in at The Oval today to watch the second and final day of the friendly match between Surrey and Middlesex.

No-one gave us a chance of even getting out of the group but as a squad we believed we could win the World Cup. No-one had England or the West Indies to do as well as they did.

In 2011 I was just happy to be part of the squad.

Going into the World Cup I was bit more mature, so I just knew I had to be the best me possible. We had a team of flexible players so I knew I had to perform.

I wasn't even in the first World Cup squad but I was at the peak of my powers in the warm-up games. I felt my strength was bowling one in the powerplay, a couple in the middle overs to halt the momentum. I had a better idea at what I was good at and tried to perfect that in the pre-tournament games.

I knew I had to bowl as fast as possible, then back my skills in the final overs.

I think I averaged 230 with the ball in Test cricket, I would have preferred that with the bat.

I wanted to be a genuine Test all-rounder and make the team with bat and ball.

Over the years I tried to change as a bowler, I tried to bowl quicker but lost skill in doing that. If I'd had a spell with the Test team it would have made me a better short-form player as well.

Carlos Brathwaite has only played three Tests and hit a half-century in all three matches.

Two against Australia in Australia and one against India at home.

He was dropped because of his bowling but did West Indies move on from him as a batting option far too soon?

Feels like he could have done a decent job at six in recent Windies teams.

After the T20 World Cup win the expectation on me was sixes, not just runs, but sixes. I personally love Test cricket. I love the fact when I'm batting you can have six fielders out of your line of sight, you get full value for your cricket shots.

You're forced to make good decisions for a lot longer in Test cricket and that was a good platform for me to go out in the shorter form

Selectors pigeonholed me as a white-ball cricketer and it's something I didn't come to terms with. I felt I had a lot more to offer.

These are the times, regardless of what has happened previously, you need to think I can be a hero. If someone does get 100-150 they will automatically take enough time out of the game to save the West Indies.

You talk about being selfless, this is a time to be selfish. If you do get a big score the team will benefit and the whole of the West Indies, the whole of the world, will know your name.
