Nicholas Waite: I live around 20 miles west of Old Trafford and seem to be getting all of the weather around 15-20 minutes before it gets to you. The sky is currently blue with a strong breeze - hopefully won't be long before the boys are back out!
Bad news, the players are making their way back into the sanctuary of the changing room.
James Anderson, who must be used to rain delays at Old Trafford, looks absolutely frozen.

The problem with batting first is that I don't think Jason Holder and the coach trust their batting line-up.

I think West Indies should have batted first in this game.
The England players are just sitting on the boundary edge and the groundsman aren't bringing the heavy covers on yet.
Fingers crossed this is just a passing shower.
Ugh.
Joe Root looks pretty relaxed as he strolls off, laughing with Dom Bess.
The England skipper obviously fancies his sides chances of getting enough play in to beat this West Indies side.

Was the single neccessary? No. But it was positive cricket. The reason he found himself 2m short is hesitation. The intent shown is probably right.
Chase run out (Bess) 7 (WI 87-6)
The last thing you need when you're trying to save a game is a run out!
To be fair to Roston Chase and Jermaine Blackwood I think most people would try and nab a single there but it's brilliant from Dom Bess and a slight bit of hesitation has cost Chase.
Blackwood pushes into the covers and Bess hurdles round from point and his pick up, turn of the body, and throw is all in one motion and he sends it crashing into the stumps at the striker's end.
Chase is miles short of his ground.

There's still some batting to come for West Indies - Jason Holder and Shane Dowrich, although it's been an untidy match for Dowrich who was hit by a bouncer when keeping and has dropped a few.
It's been a good accurate start from England after lunch.
Jofra Archer gets a bit of movement in and it strikes Roston Chase on the thigh pad. Chase wasn't happy with that, did it keep low?
I reckon it probably is, Michael.
If you think back to last summer's five-Test Ashes series, that took seven weeks and that was condensed slightly due to the World Cup.
Can I see England giving up seven-eight weeks of their calendar to a side ranked eighth in the world anytime soon? Probably not.

Michael Fletcher: Would it be too much to ask for our next series with West Indies to be a full five-Tester? This WI team has been a joy to watch.

That was a good over from Chris Woakes, who is really testing Roston Chase outside off stump.
Bang on the money from Chris Woakes after the interval but Roston Chase is equal to it and picks up a couple with a jammed drive down the ground.
Chris Woakes, who took the two wickets below during the morning session, continues after lunch and he beats Roston Chase all ends up to start with.
A beauty.

Early in his career I remember Stuart Broad saying he wanted xyz and I went 'no problem, that's fine'. There's some bowlers that ask for that and you're like 'can I negotiate?' but I always found with Stuart that he had confidence in his own game and knew what he was trying to deliver and achieve. He always maps his game now and I bet he's mapped out his next five years.
I hope he can get past Glenn McGrath because wouldn't it be great for English cricket?
Jermaine Blackwood safely negotiates the rest of Jofra Archer's over.
Jofra Archer, with a beaming smile, will finish off his over.
Who do you think Stuart Broad has got out the most in his 500 Test wickets?
