Another bowling change for Australia as Marcus Stoinis comes on to replace Pat Cummins.

The all-rounder averages 44.27 in one-day cricket and his economy rate is 6.14.

This could be the moment the shackles come off for England.

In case you're just joining us, here are the two England wickets to fall so far.

The Aussies have been deadly accurate and it's been really tough going for England.

  3. Eng 57-2published at 18 overs

Eoin Morgan and Joe Root can only take a single apiece off Mitchell Marsh's third over.

My plea for England to get 80-100 off Australia's fifth bowling option feels a long way off right now.

Root has been hit all over the place today. He's having a bit of a nightmare. He's getting battered and he can't get the ball off the square.

  5. Eng 55-2published at 17 overs

Joe Root isn't finding this easy at all. He picks up three through backward point, but it's not timed as it squirts through the air.

He then gets in a tangle to a ball that doesn't get up off the pitch to end the over.

We have seen that a couple of times today now, though. England just need to make sure they get a score here and give their bowlers something to defend.

Michael Vaughan says on this pitch England need Root to bat for 30-40 overs. If he does at this rate he might make a score of 30-odd!

If it was a red ball I would be cheering every block. But it ain't and I'm not.

It's been hard work for England, even though Australia haven't been at their best in the field. Batting is looking very tricky.

There's the boundary that Joe Root was after but it's a poor piece of fielding from Marnus Labuschagne.

It's a nice square drive off the back foot from Root though. That's a good sign - that's a shot he plays well when he feels in good nick.

Another misfield allows Eoin Morgan to pick up a couple through mid-wicket. It was David Warner that time, which is always particularly pleasant.

Root is itching for the boundary to get himself going. It's not easy. This is very similar to when I batted in one-day cricket...

  10. Eng 44-2published at 15 overs

Just a single and a wide from Pat Cummins' third ball. The Aussie tried a couple of shorter balls at Eoin Morgan in that over but the England captain just ducked under both with relative ease.

Joe Root is on 14 off 46 balls while Morgan is on two off 14.

I said earlier that today was the sort of day where it's a shame that spectators aren't at the ground. But, if you're an England fan you're probably grateful you're not there right now. This is tough going.

With the summer that Michael Gough is having, I wouldn't be reviewing it. He's been that good.

  13. Eng 42-2published at 14 overs

Another maiden but it's an interesting first over from Mitchell Marsh.

Eoin Morgan absolutely crunches a drive off the first ball - so much so that sub fielder Daniel Sams has to go off and be replaced by Sean Abbott.

There's then an appeal for lbw as Eoin Morgan attempts to pull a ball that doesn't really get up off the pitch. Morgan was almost flamingo-like there, but Aaron Finch wisely decides against the review as the ball pitched outside leg stump.

Mitchell Marsh is coming on to replace Josh Hazlewood.

England need to make sure they get 80-100 off the 10 overs from Marsh/Glenn Maxwell/Marcus Stoinis that Aaron Finch uses as the fifth bowler.

On this wicket, England just need Root to bat for 30 or 40 overs.

  16. Eng 42-2published at 13 overs

That's a much better second over from Pat Cummins and it's the fourth maiden of the innings already.

Cummins beats the outside edge of Joe Root's bat as the England Test captains has an airy drive at a ball that was probably only on sixth or seventh-stump line at best.

If you think back to Friday, 294 was enough for Australia to win. Anything around 250-260 would be very good.

  18. Eng 42-2published at 12 overs

Superb again from Josh Hazlewood with just a single off the last ball of the over.

His figures are 0-19 off six overs so far.

England are going to have to make sure they go big off the 10 overs from Glenn Maxwell/Marcus Stoinis/Mitchell Marsh today.

We were treated to an impromptu band session from a few of the TMS team on our day off. Let me tell you, producer Henry Moeran performs the most sensational version of I Want To Break Free by Queen.

  20. Eng 41-2published at 11 overs

    Root 12, Morgan 2

Pat Cummins has come on to replace Mitchell Starc. This Aussie bowling line-up is relentless.

Hello! Joe Root decides to change his bat and hits two consecutive boundaries.

The first one is a pull that loops over square leg and away for four before a glorious drive.

He keeps the strike with a single into square. Good batting.
