  1. dropped catch

Yasir dropped on 5published at 98 overs

    Pak 286-6

Is that another drop by Jos Buttler? I wasn't sure at first but having seen the replay, yes it was. And it was a sitter!

A fabulous ball from Dom Bess, Yasir looks to prod, nicks it and Buttler unable to hold on to a routine grab. Oh dear.

It has been a terrific afternoon for Pakistan and left England with a potential headache. Stuart Broad is now going off the field, looking very ruefully at his left hand.

  3. Pak 286-6published at 97 overs

Shan Masood 126, Yasir Shah 5

Chris Woakes goes full to Yasir Shah and the Pakistan man is off the mark with two down to mid-off. It's fielded by a diving Stuart Broad who seems to have taken a little knock to his hand in doing so. He seems a little bit troubled by it and leaves the field.

    Five from the over.

  4. Pak 281-6published at 96 overs

Yasir Shah is the new man in as Bess completes the over. A lot is being made of the lack of batting in this Pakistan tail. Can England mop up the last four wickets quickly? Tea is just over half an hour away.

That's terrific bowling from Dom Bess. He saw Shadab coming and bowled it a little slower and it went straight up in the air.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 95.3 overs

    Shadab c Root b Bess 45 (Pak 281-6)

Breakthrough for Bess! And boy, did England need that!

Shadab Khan, looking to play a big old hoick, takes three steps down the wicket, top-edges it straight in the air and it's the easiest of grabs for captain Joe Root at mid-on.

Joe Root is having to think long and hard about his tactics. This is really where you earn your money as captain. You need to galvanise your fielders. They're looking a little bit weary and frustrated.

  8. Pak 281-5published at 15:12 British Summer Time 6 August 2020

It's all very flat out there.

Masood drives Woakes through cover. The 38-year-old legs of James Anderson, on his home ground, chase it down, but it's still three more to the Pakistan total.

A reminder that this session will go on until 15:55 BST to make up for lost time from yesterday.

The TV cameras pan to Jofra Archer who lets out an almighty yawn. I'm now yawning. It's contagious.

Craig Moore: This is simply dross from England. Bowling, plans and fielding. All sub-par since lunch. Nonsense cricket.

Kevin Ticehurst: What is going on? There seems to be absolutely no leadership here from Joe Root!

Shan Masood 122, Shadab Khan 44 (Pak 277-5)

Dom Bess to Shan Masood... and it's back-to-back fours. A sweep down to fine-leg and a drive to the mid-off boundary.

And with that, the 100 partnership between Masood and Shadab Khan.

You do wonder why Archer isn't performing this role as the enforcer.

Chris Woakes opts for the short stuff against Shadab but can't quite get it right. Shouldn't it be Archer in the attack employing these tactics?

A rare maiden. Although, little to trouble Shadab.

The turning over of the strike has been so frustrating for England's fielders and bowlers.

  15. Eng 268-5published at 92 overs

Shan Masood 114, Shadab Khan 44

England are hoping to force a mistake from one of this Pakistan batting pair who are more than happy to shuffle down the pitch to Bess.

The England spinner floats them in but Masood and Shadab take four from the over.

Joe Root had a long talk with his team during the drinks break. Players in a circle, only the skipper talking, lots of nodding from the others.

264 doesn't sound a huge score but, when you get to 300 and beyond, we've seen it spin already and we know how dangerous Pakistan's seamers can be. England's left-handed batsmen are going to look down and see plenty of rough.

  20. Wyatt in the runs for England's womenpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 6 August 2020

Over in Derby, England's women are playing a 12-a-side intra-squad game, with two teams named after legendary England players who both passed away in 2017 - Jan Brittin and Rachael Heyhoe-Flint.

Team Brittin, led by Natalie Sciver have just been bowled out for 250 with five balls to spare of their 50 overs - helped by 88 from Danni Wyatt and 48 by Alice Davidson-Richards.

For Team Heyhoe-Flint, led by England skipper Heather Knight, the pick of the bowlers was leg-spinner Sarah Glenn (3-41) while veteran pace bowler Katherine Brunt was miserly with 2-16 from seven overs.
