We are in for an absolute classic. England will just be crossing their fingers that his partnership lasts another 10 overs. There will be an opportunity or two, I am sure, but don't disappear.

England fans, this will cheer you up.

Buttler averages 44 at six and Woakes 61 at 7. Both got their only Test centuries at this position in the batting order.

    Reasons to be positive?

Plenty of flight and a bit of turn from Shadab Khan. Two singles from the over and that's tea.

Another absorbing session of Test cricket.

There's a saxophone player on the tram stop trying to rally Pakistan. He can't see the action, so he might not know how much his team need it right now

Yep, there will be one more and Shadab Khan will bowl in what is only the second over for the leg-spinner in this innings.

Yasir Shah continues. Chris Woakes with some delay tactics as he does some gardening, adjusts his gloves and takes his time.

A single brings Jos Buttler on strike who plays a fantastic reverse-sweep. The boundaries keep coming.

One more before tea, I reckon.

    Woakes 24, Buttler 26

Shot! Chris Woakes has battled brilliantly so far as he times a cover-drive for four. He nearly has another boundary but some fine fielding from Abid Ali in the deep restricts Woakes to two.

Will it be Naseem Shah after tea? It looks to me like the 17-year-old has the ability to blow the tail away.

A bit of cricket trivia for you. Shaheen's older brother, Riaz Afridi, played in one Test for Pakistan - against Sri Lanka in Karachi in 2004. , external

Chris Woakes drives Shaheen back down the pitch and the tall Pakistani fields with his foot. That was hit with some strength, must have hurt. But saves four.

Yasir Shah floats it in, Chris Woakes takes a good stride forward and drives through mid-off for four. Proper cricket shot, that. Textbook.

Buttler played a different kind of innings against West Indies here. These 25 runs have been his best runs I have seen him make in Test cricket for a long time. It has been so crisp.

  16. Eng 147-5published at 49 overs

Shaheen Afridi continue and Chris Woakes is in the runs.

Shaheen bowls a smidgen too full and Woakes picks up two before belting another full delivery through point for four.

Seven from the over in total and the partnership is now worth 30. Game on?

Now then, can Jos Buttler have one of those match-winning innings which we talk about for years to come? He's ramps it up a notch by drilling Yasir through backward square leg for four.
