Chris Adams: This England test cricket team reminds me of Sven-Goran Eriksson’s England football team. Picking all the best players ahead of picking the best team.

Mo, I totally get it. I had plenty of rows with my Pakistan-born dad when I was growing up. England v Pakistan caused many family rifts.

Shaheen Afridi is causing all kinds of trouble as he has another ball jump up and it catches Woakes by surprise.

The England all-rounder answer back with a well-timed guide through gully for four and follows it with a slap to the mid-wicket boundary for three more.

Intent being shown here by England.

Jos Buttler is going to attack and I don't think anyone can blame him if he gets out playing like this.

England have to somehow hope he can get a quick 70.

  5. Eng 123-5published at 46 overs

Eng need 154 more runs to win, Pak need five wickets

Jos Buttler bisects the field by reverse-sweeping Yasir Shah to find the boundary.

A single from the end of Yasir's over means Buttler will keep the strike.

To get away with that delivery you have to be playing badly. Pope was playing it correctly. There was nothing he could do.

In comes Chris Woakes and sees off the remainder of Shaheen's over.

You might want to make some plans for tomorrow.

That is unplayable. It came from absolutely nowhere and has taken off. An absolute shocker of a ball. That could have broken ribs if it hadn't hit the bat.

    Pope c Shadab b Shaheen 7 (Eng 117-5)

Just try and play that! Shaheen Afridi again finds that extra bounce from a length delivery and it jumps on Ollie Pope, deflects off the left glove and balloons up to Shadab Khab who runs in from gully.

It is typical Pakistan. They got one and now look like they are going to take a wicket every single ball.

  13. Eng 117-4published at 44.1 overs

Shaheen Afridi bowls wide of the wicket and angles in to Ollie Pope who, rather awkwardly, plays with low hands as the ball jumps up on him.

Stoney: Another difficult chance taken by Rizwan. Once again shows the benefit of selecting a keeper based on his glovework rather than his batting. A specialist for a specialist position.

It is a brilliant shot because it wasn't quite as full as the previous four. Buttler changed the angle of his bat and swatted it.

That is a wonderful shot. What a confident way to get off the mark.

  17. Eng 116-4published at 15:17 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

England need 161 more runs to win

Jos Buttler reads the Yasir Shah googly perfectly and drives through mid-off for four glorious runs.

And again, this time the wide-eyed Buttler makes some space and gives it a good old slap into the same region.

Two boundaries from the over. England will be wanting plenty more of those from Buttler.

That sounded much more like pad to me.

  19. Eng 107-4published at 43 overs

Shaheen Afridi replaces Naseem Shah and, yet again, a massive appeal from the fielding side as he has one jag back to Jos Buttler, there's a sound and it's through to Rizwan behind the stumps.

From the appeal, you'd think they will definitely review. They don't. The ball brushed the thigh on the way through.

    Maiden.

That is magnificent. Rizwan had to get his gloves high. Stokes can't quite believe he has gloved it.

    Pakistan are absolutely jubilant.
