The House of Hammer: I suspect that Rory Burns has one more match before being dropped. His form is poor to put it mildly.

We were enjoying that. A green top in Southampton, it doesn't get much better than that - especially with this Pakistan bowling line-up.

    What can you do?

There's a lot of frustration. We've had an hour of sincilating cricket, so absorbing. I'm guessing we were spoilt there really - having an hour of consecutive play.

There's a lot of rain around the country today disrupting cricket, but there are some matches still in progress in the Bob Willis Trophy.

Before that rain we had five dramatic overs as England reached 7-1. From the very first delivery it was clear it would be a challenge. After edging just short of second slip, Rory Burns was caught in the same place for a duck three balls later.

No play yesterday of course and the main international cricket news was MS Dhoni announcing his retirement. Here is the India legend winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 in fine style.

    We've had exactly an hour.

The four-man Pakistan slip cordon is even closer together than England's, but they have taken the one chance that has come their way so far and they excitedly wait for the next one. Shaheen is up at 86mph but Sibley is leaving well.

    Pak 236

Crawley takes up a stance in front of the crease in an attempt to negate the movement from Abbas. A tall man, he gets a good stride in and clips it away for two through mid-wicket. The final ball nips back in sharply and catches him in the bread-basket.

It may not matter in the end but this is utterly compelling. The theatre of the chatter from the fielders. The atmosphere. The brilliant bowling.
