This is torture from Mohammad Abbas - it shouldn't be allowed.
Pak 236
Abbas has the ball on a string. Only 79mph but perfectly positioned around off stump, nibbling around. Sibley looks tentative but survives. Lunch seems a long way off.

The light meter is coming out - it has got darker I'm afraid. It feels like we're fighting an unlevel battle out there.
It has filled in and it is very dark over the Ageas Bowl.

Rory Burns had to play at the delivery because of his technique. His head goes over on the off side and it's a great length and line from Shaheen Afridi.

England need 37 to avoid the follow on...
Here's the final Pakistan wicket. England probably wish they were still in the field.

It's a good decision. I think it was going down the leg side anyway and may have pitched outside leg too.
Pak 236
What an opening over that was. Ball zipping around, accuracy, pace.
Looks like he has inside-edged it. Crawley survives.

This looks close. Mohammad Rizwan is signalling it was going down.

That might be the loudest appeal I’ve ever heard.
Massive appeal against Crawley first up. Not out is the verdict but they will review.

It's the same delivery, the same result and it's a good take by Asad Shafiq. It had an excellent seam position and look at the body language - Shaheen is charging in!
Burns c Shafiq b Shaheen 0 (Eng 0-1)
This edge flies quickly but is superbly pouched to his right by Asad Shafiq at second slip. Testing times in the overcast conditions. Zak Crawley in next.

I spoke to Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Abbas yesterday and they were itching to bowl on this wicket. They will test Rory Burns' and Dom Sibley's technique and temperament.
Pak 236
The first ball is edged - and fractionally short of second slip. Hold on to your hats.

I'm optimistic about most things. But the experienced fan in me is fretting about the follow-on...
Jack, Woking
Umpire Kettleborough had the light meter out there but he hands it back to third umpire Saggers with a smile as he makes his way back to the centre and the England innings is about to begin, with tall left-armer Shaheen Afridi to open the bowling.
Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special
This is a very competitive score for Pakistan. With the lack of time left it's going to be difficult for either side to force a result but Pakistan have got to think wickets and about bowling England out for 100-110. It will take them to bowl extremely well and take all their chances.
For England it is about batting the day out and getting to 300-320 and that gives Pakistan a nervy last day. I'm not saying they'll get 320 today but if they can within the first hour of tomorrow you just never know. Test cricket, in these conditions, can escalate quite quickly.
