Pakistan were not as disciplined as they have been in the past but the conditions were tough today. Naseem and Shaheen are inexperienced, they will learn from this. But full credit goes to Buttler and Crawley.

Very rarely did Crawley miss the gap. Whenever there was a four to hit, he timed it. There are some players who get their first century and you think they worked hard to get it. But Crawley just made it look so easy.

You go back to that run chase at Old Trafford, it was dramatic. But this has been England's best day of the summer. It was the manner of which the partnership developed from the get-go. Just playing good, Test cricket.

And Zak Crawley, you just can't see a better century.

Tom Hill: Can Buttler get a bit of a break from criticism now? These batting scores may give him some new confidence behind the stumps.

Zak Crawley gets a standing ovation from the England dressing room, who have all come out onto the balcony to applaud him. He's got a massive grin on his face, bless him.

  12. Close of play - Eng 332-4published at 90 overs

A thick outside edge and Zak Crawley tucks his bat under his arm, 171 unbeaten runs to his name,

Jos Buttler claps him on the back and the two walk off together. 148 runs added in that final session, and England are in a very healthy position.

Zak Crawley could be the third youngest England double centurion, which would be quite something.

  15. Eng 332-4published at 89.4 overs

A thumping drive from Jos Buttler flies for four, and that's the 200 partnership up.

Oh, and now three more as Naseem Shah strays onto Buttler's pads. What a day this has been.

It's been a long day for the Pakistan fielders.

James Doe: We’re actually going to get 90 overs in during a day’s play?! Admittedly we’re 15 minutes past the scheduled close... but still, 90 ACTUAL OVERS!

Zak Crawley looks a million dollars. I like the attitude as well. He got his hundred and then reapplied himself rather than go for a slog and getting out at 109 or something.

  20. Eng 322-4published at 88 overs

Zak Crawley jabs his bat down on an attempted yorker from Naseem Shah as we wind down into the final few minutes of the day.

And not a rain delay in sight, if you don't count the few minutes where Joe Root had to wait before he could throw a coin in the air.
