  1. 'Absolutely incredible'published at 17:14 British Summer Time 25 August 2020

    BBC Test Match Special

Former Australian bowler Glenn McGrath, speaking on TMS earlier: "Absolutely incredible, I’m a big fan of Jimmy’s. Just the fact he’s still playing now, in his 156th Test match, which in itself is just incredible.

"The rigours, the stresses that fast bowlers put on their body day in day out, to turn around and front up and just work your backside off is just absolutely incredible."

Some gentle rotation of the strike for Pakistan, as another gale comes whistling across the Ageas Bowl. Horrible to bowl into.

Greg James, he of Radio 1, Tailenders and owner of the greatest dog in the world fame, has written a piece on his mate Jimmy and what it's like to know a cricket GOAT.

Read it here. It's absolutely lovely.

  5. Pak 135-3published at 69 overs

Dom Bess gets spanked for four by Babar Azam, a glorious cover drive racing away to the ropes, and Bess is lucky that a bit of wide rubbish doesn't go the same way.

In a wonderful bit of symmetry, Stuat Broad is going to replace Jimmy Anderson.

  10. '600 won't be the stopping of him'published at 17:00 British Summer Time 25 August 2020

    BBC Sport

More from Broad on Anderson: "Although 600 Test wickets is a phenomenal achievement, it doesn’t come without a lot of tough periods and a lot of tough work. Even in the last couple of weeks he’s had some down moments, some criticism and training moments where he’s bowled at cones for 40 minutes and into the nets. The hard work never stops at this level.

"He’s testament to someone who looks to put that hard work in all the time and even when he’s got to 38 now, that’s not slowed down. He knows almost when you get to that age you have to work harder and he’s continued to do that. Even in this Test match, it’s probably the best he’s bowled in the summer so far. That’s something that is in his character.

"He’s always searching to be better and better and 600 won’t be the stopping of him."

  11. Pak 126-3published at 67 overs

Dom Bess is into the attack and a thick outside edge goes on the bounce to first slip, beating Joe Root as it nips past his left hand and rolls away for four.

  12. 'He didn't say hi to me'published at 16:57 British Summer Time 25 August 2020

    BBC Sport

Broad on the first time he met Anderson: "He’s someone who has consistently developed his craft and it’s amazing to see in training and watch from mid-on for so many years.

"I played for England before I met him because I remember being in the Loughborough for a training camp before the 2006 Ashes and he didn’t say hi to me for the whole day. It was like I was invisible. I think that was mainly his shyness to be fair. "

Here it is. Drink it in.

  14. Pak 121-3published at 65.4 overs

Jimmy Anderson comes perilously close to making it 601 as he gets his latest delivery to keep low and Asad Shafiq can't resist a fiddle outside off stump.

  15. 'A role model for every English cricketer'published at 16:53 British Summer Time 25 August 2020

    BBC Sport

England's Stuart Broad on team-mate James Anderson taking 600 wickets: "You can’t really put it into words, it’s just phenomenal.

"It doesn’t feel two minutes ago he broke Glenn McGrath’s record at The Oval against India with such scenes of taking the final wicket to win the Test match.

"He has got better with age and is someone who has inspired me throughout my career, watching him. The last five years in particular, since leaving South Africa in 2016, he’s just gone from strength to strength and he’s a role model to follow for every English cricketer and young cricketer coming through.

"It takes a huge amount of skill and determination."
