He's going to pump the first ball back over McBrine's head for a one-bounce four, that's how.
Here is the change, in the form of off-spinner Andy McBrine.
Look away now, bowlers...

Target 213
Craig Young gets a bit of a breather when, after a hastily run three, James Vince sees off the rest of the over.
Eoin Morgan is sat in the stands, which implies he might not be coming in at four. Should he be needed, that is...

I'm not sure about this tactic from Ireland, surely it's time to change the bowling? Fair to say Jonny Bairstow has got the better of the bowling and maybe a change of pace is needed.
Has Bairstow got somewhere to be?
He bends his back leg slightly and sends a ginormous flick right back into the stands. Glorious.
Jonny Bairstow is in the mood.
James Vince ends the over with a terrific back-foot punch for four.
Marcus Trescothick is in the stands! He's part of the England coaching group, and it is lovely to see him in an England kit.
He'll like that - one of your classic James Vince cover drives, which goes skipping away for four.
Jonny Bairstow is 32 off 16 balls with seven fours to his name.
We've had five overs.

He's absolutely whipped that in front of square with contempt. Bairstow looks like he's made some technical adjustments. He's not holding the bat as high as I've seen him do in the past, and is playing a lot straighter.
Josh Little, who got a bit of Bairstow mauling in his last over, continues, and Bairstow promptly thumps his second ball away to the boundary with a rasping pull.
And he ends the over with another dreamy hoick over long-off for four.

The Irish wagon is wobbling a bit here.

Another poor delivery, on the hip - James Vince is a very good puller of the ball, and that will make him feel a lot better.
James Vince is in on the attack now, taking advantage as Craig Little strays onto his hip, and he pushes him gently away for four. Lovely.
It's just got a shade darker over the Ageas Bowl.

Ominous signs, Jonny Bairstow is into his stride and punishing Young. It's still a good batting surface but Bairstow is making it difficult for Ireland to find a line and length.
Oh, Jase...
Target 213
And again!
A short arm jab this time from Jonny Bairstow and it goes flying away. He's on 23 from just 12 balls.

We talk about his lack of footwork but Jonny Bairstow has good hands and powerful wrists, he's putting the Irish bowlers under the pump every time they miss their lengths.
