  4. 'I feel like I'm in a good place'published at 22:25 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

David Willey to BBC Test Match Special: "It's disappointing tonight, on a personal level too towards the back end. It's been great to be back out wearing the England shirt, I didn't know if I'd get the chance again but I've enjoyed every minute.

"The pitch got better as the game went on. From where we were we'd liked to have got a few more but with 330 you're always in the game but credit to them, they played well.

"I'm enjoying the competition and being out in the middle and probably in the last 12-18 months I'd lost a bit of that. I feel like I'm in a good place and I play my best cricket when I'm enjoying it.

On the World Cup Super League: "I didn't really know about it. I've absolutely no idea what you're talking about to be honest! I just want to win games of cricket."

We've banged on about Bangalore and it's nice to get another one but you don't want them to be one-offs. You want to build on them and challenge Afghanistan, West Indies and everyone and go into these games believing you can challenge.

  6. 'Very satisfying to get the win'published at 22:20 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie on Test Match Special: "I feel ecstatic. we didn't play our best cricket in the first two games but to put in that performance, particularly with the bat, gives us confidence that we can compete with the best whenever those fixtures come about.

"I thought we got back into the game really well having had a good start. To let them get 320 was a bit frustrating but we knew it was a good wicket, we just had to apply ourselves. We hadn't done that in the first two years, we relied on a 21-year-old who hadn't played much cricket. It's very satisfying to get the win."

On the World Cup Super League: "It's going to be tough and probably our greatest ever achievement to qualify outright for the World Cup. We're going to have to be consistent and that's what I'm trying to do with this team. To come away from the World Champions with 10 points is a great effort even when we didn't play our best cricket in the first two games."

  7. 'It was a pretty solid performance'published at 22:20 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

Paul Stirling to BBC Test Match Special: "It's a special day for Ireland. To get a win against England on their home turf but to get 10 points on the board is the most important thing. We're delighted with that - it was a pretty solid performance in the end.

"A huge credit has to go to our bowlers, to get middle order wickets is quite tough these days and we've that consistently in this series. We could have been chasing almost 400 at one stage.

"It came onto the bat pretty icely as the innings went on. When the lights kicked in and the ball got softer it got nicer to bat on.

"It's a huge win. We need to keep improving every time we play. We only play against the big teams now. The first two games were disappointing to say the least, we were a bit scratchy but we need to keep our levels similar to today."

  8. 'We stuttered throughout'published at 22:18 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

England captain Eoin Morgan: "Full credit to Ireland, they outplayed us today. We had an average day and stuttered throughout.

"It was in and around a par score but the wicket got better and Ireland played better than they had in the last two games. I'd also like to thank them for coming over to play these games - it's a big commitment in the circumstances.

"We definitely thought we could defend that total - we have plenty of wicket takers but Paul Stirling had a big day and we failed to take opportunities.

"We are learning more and more about players that are coming in - David Willey has been fantastic coming back with a point to prove, Sam Billings got two fifties and Tom Banton got one today.

"International cricket can be cruel and the wicket can be hard for a bowler and you have to learn that.

"I didn't risk fielding because there is not long now before the Pakistan series. Moeen did a fine job, he's wise and uses every bit of his experience. He did everything he could - we just didn't manage to take our opportunities.

"It's been a short and sharp three-match series but we're grateful to be back playing and hopefully it's the start of some more exciting white-ball cricket to come."

  9. Postpublished at 22:15 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie: "We're delighted with how that finished. We didn't perform with the bat at all in the first two matches so to come back like that and chase that score is hugely satisfying.

"We absolutely thought we could chase it but knew we had to bat well at the top. Paul set the tone brilliantly from the off.

"I try to be positive whenever I play - it's a different positive to how Paul plays but we dovetailed well and our partnership took us a long way to winning.

"We're grateful for the opportunity to play here during these uncertain times and to come away with 10 points for World Cup qualification.

"We've got two weeks back home in quarantine so we'll have to get through that before getting back to training. We don't know what will happen but hopefully we can be back playing cricket again soon."

Mark Burt: Fantastic by Ireland. A below par England left the door open and they blew through it with style. Most of these Irish lads won’t play again this year, hopefully the memory of it will keep them going through the long months ahead. Don't lambast Eng, celebrate cricket

England's player of the series David Willey: "It's nice to get a go so I'm obviously happy to be back in the fold.

"I prefer it when I don't bat for England because it means we're doing well but it's nice to get a few runs as well as a few wickets.

"I'm just happy to get another chance - I wasn't sure after not making the World Cup and not playing in the winter."

England's death bowling wasn't horrendous. Full credit has to go to Andrew Balbirnie and Paul Stirling they put England under pressure. And when you're under pressure the margin for you to hit becomes tiny - marble size.

David Willey became a bit samey.

  13. Postpublished at 22:09 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

Man of the match Ireland opener Paul Stirling: "We were disappointed with our performance in the first two matches so we showed great character to come out and win this one.

"We've chased over 300 a number of times so we knew we could do it it and maybe it freed us up a bit to go harder at the top of the innings.

"It was great to bat with Andrew Balbirnie, his knock was really special as well.

"This is up there with my best innings, but it's the win that counts and it's 10 points on the board."

The amount of negativity from English fans never ceases to amaze. Yes tonight was disappointment, but the series is won, it's a second string side, and give credit where it's due, Ireland had a stormer with the bat. Can we just agree that cricket was the winner tonight rather than drag the team for a slightly sub par performance yet again?

What a find Curtis Campher has been for Ireland. He shouldered the responsibility in the first two games and really stood up with bat and ball.

I think England did a lot wrong with the ball. They didn't mix up their lengths nearly enough.

David Willey managed to concede NINE runs off one delivery.
