Oh no! Mix-up! Paul Stirling sets off and is sent back.

He's struggling as the throw comes in - Tom Curran collects, turns and throws down the stumps.

They're checking but Stirling is already walking off, bat tucked under his arm.

There's not a smile on his face and nor should there be. It was a restrained celebration because that's not his main priority at the moment.

My goodness me, what a moment for Andrew Balbirnie!

It might just be his most important international century.

100 for Balbirniepublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

And there it is! A century for Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie and it's been a magnificent one.

He brings it up with a fierce slash over point for four off Tom Curran.

A brilliant knock in a majestic partnership.

It's a tough catch but he gets his hands to it.

It's not an omen but it might be a significant moment. They've got to get a wicket soon and put pressure on the new men coming in and hope the tension gets to the Irish. Without breaking this partnership I don't see how England can win.

Just like in Bangalore in 2011 a vital catch has gone down! Is that an omen?

  7. dropped catch

Stirling dropped on 139published at 41 overs

If this is to be James Vince's last crack at international cricket then it's a fairly undignified end.

Paul Stirling skies it off a top edge and Vince shells it, running back to mid-wicket.

The earlier chance was really tough but he should have taken that.

Ireland need 76 more runs to win off 10 overs.

This is by normal standards, not game over, but the batting side, Ireland, are the absolute firm favourites. But WinViz has it at 50-50.

Decent over from Tom Curran - no boundary given up at least.

  12. Ire 250-1published at 39.2 overs

It's such simple yet clever batting from Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie - knocking good balls into gaps to pick up one or two and then punishing the bad ones by hitting boundaries.

That's the 200 partnership up and right now they are cruising this.

I've not seen the large person who sings at the end of things. She's not even clearing her throat.

But, whatever else happens we've seen one of the great Irish batting partnerships.

Andrew Balbirnie has played the off-spinner really well. He's played a variety of sweeps that always seem to avoid the fielders.

  17. Ire 248-1published at 39 overs

    Target 329

Andrew Balbirnie sweeps round the corner for four to move into the 90s.

More one and twos on offer over the huge outfield. That's nine off the over.

It was brilliant from Liam Livingstone. He was beyond the boundary but it was a brilliant save.

  19. Ire 241-1published at 38.2 overs

Oh my word - Liam Livingstone, you are kidding me.

Andrew Balbirnie smacks it away for what should be four - but Livingstone dives and knocks the ball back as it's in the air over the rope, preventing the boundary.

  20. Ire 239-1published at 38 overs

    Need 90 runs to win

Much better from David Willey, who is hiding the ball in his right hand as he runs up before transferring to his left shortly before release.

Decent over for England - just three from it.
