  5. 50 runs

50 for Steven Croftpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Lancashire (322 & 220-8) lead Leicestershire (409-8) by 133 runs

Steven Croft has made a second half-century of the match for Lancashire, which could be what helps them avoid defeat at New Road.

The Red Rose are 220-8 - a lead of 133 runs - but it won't take much for the Foxes to start closing in on a win.

  6. Clarke & Clark holding firm for Surreypublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Surrey (282 & 109-5) need 205 more runs to beat Middlesex (347-6 dec & 248-6 dec)

Rikki Clarke and Jordan Clark at the crease for Surrey at the start of this final session.

Middlesex hunting five more wickets for a win.

They'll be encouraged by how quickly they ran through Surrey's tail in the first innings but these two perhaps hold the key for Surrey's hopes of getting a draw.

  7. Mitchell and Libby take it slowpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Worcestershire (428-5 & 22-0) need 88 runs to beat Gloucestershire (267 & 270)

There's no rush for Daryl Mitchell and Jake Libby to tick off these runs, they're 22-0 chasing 110 to beat Gloucestershire.

We've had just the two boundaries in the first nine overs but both Worcestershire openers looked assured for now.

    Lancashire (322 & 214-8) lead Leicestershire (409-8) by 127 runs

Ben Mike took a wicket with what proved to be the last ball for tea and had Lancashire's Tom Bailey caught with the first ball after the break.

Steven Croft remains on 49 but their lead is just 127 runs with two wickets left.

Leicestershire will be wary that time is against them but if they can get these last two wickets sharpish they'll be strong favourites.

  9. Where's this one going?!published at 16:11 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Essex (298 & 187-8) need 15 more runs to beat Kent (387 & 112)

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex at Chelmsford

    What a session.

Every time Essex seem to have got this done, back come Kent with some crucial wickets.

Alastair Cook and Feroze Khushi shared a stand of 86 and were apparently seeing them home but Ivan Thomas, who had spent the majority of the day grazing the outfield, was introduced as what appeared to be a last throw of the dice.

He duly obliged with the wickets of Cook and Khushi, swiftly followed by ten Doeschate and Harmer.

Adam Wheater and Sam Cook now have the task of knocking-off 15 runs OR will Kent get the wickets?

  10. 100 runs

100 for Luke Procterpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

Luke Procter has returned from tea and got the run to reach three figures.

Northamptonshire's lead is 252 and you feel that Warwickshire's spirit has been broken by him and Adam Rossington, who's not out on 119.

These two have batted absolutely fantastically at Edgbaston.

  11. Northants grit puts them in good positionpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Northamptonshire (142 & 478-6) lead Warwickshire (369-8) by 251 runs

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

Northamptonshire have shown admirable grit to rescue this game from a perilous position on the third afternoon - led by their captain Adam Rossington's most determined effort.

He began his innings at 14:15 BST on Monday and set aside his normal keenness to seek scoring opportunities in favour of a puritan discipline.

Having laid the foundations of the recovery with Charlie Thurston yesterday, with Luke Proctor for company today he has finished the job, and since lunch set the whole thing in cement, scoring only 15 runs in the afternoon session, even as the pitch sapped any remaining trace of venom from the bowling.

In particular he treated the off-breaks of Rob Yates, never previously seen in first-class cricket, with the diligence of a sapper.

Procter allowed himself a little more indulgence, and has advanced on his own century - Warwickshire at least managed to keep him on 99 until the tea interval, leaving at least one ripple of suspense after the break before we reach perhaps the first moment in first-class cricket history where the captains will agree a draw by bumping elbows.

  12. Tea finally at Chelmsford!published at 16:04 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Essex (298 & 187-8) need 15 more runs to beat Kent (387 & 112)

And that finally is the tea interval at Chelmsford.

What a last hour of play in this game. Still three results on the table.

Essex need 15 to win, Kent need two more wickets.

    Do not go anywhere!

15 more needed now for the hosts. Two wickets needed for Kent still.

  14. Postpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Essex (298 & 183-8) need 19 more runs to beat Kent (387 & 112)

Two no-balls in succession by Ivan Thomas take Essex's required runs under 20.

How costly could those moments of over-stepping prove?

  15. Still going at Chelmsford!published at 15:53 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Essex (298 & 176-8) need 26 more runs to beat Kent (387 & 112)

    Nerves shredded in this one!

A late tea on the final day due to all the events of the past hour.

Adam Wheater and Sam Cook out there for Essex. Grant Stewart and Ivan Thomas striving for another wicket for Kent.

This is what four-day county cricket is all about.

    Brilliant finish!

  16. Procter goes to tea on 99published at 15:44 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Northamptonshire (142 & 478-6) lead Warwickshire (369-8) by 251 runs

    They're still going!

Adam Rossington and Luke Procter have batted all day for Northants, adding 171 runs for the seventh wicket to probably take victory beyond Warwickshire.

They go to tea with Procter on 99, hoping to join Rossington on three figures after the break.
