    Borthwick c Simpson b Walallawita 1 (Surrey 282 & 19-2 v Middlesex 347-6 dec & 248-6 dec)

This could be a very big wicket at The Oval!

Surrey's stand-out performer in their first innings Scott Borthwick is on his way cheaply.

Middlesex left-arm spinner Thilan Walallawita has him caught down the legside by John Simpson for just a single and Surrey 19-2 as they chase 314 to win.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Vilas b Parkinson 43 (Lancashire 322 & 155-5 v Leicestershire 409-8)

Dane Vilas outImage source, PA Media

Ten minutes before lunch Dane Vilas plays onto his stumps off the bowling of Callum Parkinson and goes for 43.

That's a real stinger for Lancashire as that partnership with Steven Croft looked like it could get them out of some trouble.

Instead they're just 68 ahead of Leicestershire with five wickets left.

  3. Middlesex get a scalppublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Surrey (282 & 14-1) need 300 more runs to beat Middlesex (347-6 dec & 248-6 dec)

    Wicket time at The Oval.

Tim Murtagh has Mark Stoneman trapped leg before to give the visitors a first scalp in this Surrey second innings.

Stoneman looks a bit disgruntled by that thinking he may have got a nick on it but up went umpire Rob Bailey's finger pretty quickly.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Chopra c Robinson b Stewart 9 (Essex 298 & 61-4 v Kent 387 & 112)

My word! That is the commentator's curse on Varun Chopra!

Essex four down now and they have lost three wickets for just 13 runs in the space of five overs.

A fine edge from Chopra through to Ollie Robinson with the gloves gives Grant Stewart another wicket.

Essex still need another 141 runs.

    Dane VilasImage source, PA Media

Lancashire have responded well to losing Rob Jones early on day four, with Dane Vilas (43*) and Steven Croft (19*) bringing up the 50 partnership for for the fifth-wicket,

It's just what the doctor ordered for the Red Rose, who still only lead Leicestershire by 68 runs at New Road.

  6. Chopra begins with a couple of boundariespublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Essex (298 & 61-3) need 141 more runs to beat Kent (387 & 112)

Varun Chopra comes out to join Sir Alastair Cook at number five for Essex.

Begins with two fours, the first one not too convincing as it goes off the edge along the ground through the slips but the second more confident with a drive through the covers.

    Essex need another 141.

  7. 100 runs

100 for Adam Rossingtonpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 4 August 2020

    Northamptonshire (142 & 406-6) lead Warwickshire (369-8) by 179 runs

Northants have played brilliantly in the first 90 minutes today and captain Adam Rossington has a deserved century to celebrate.

He's on 103 off 228 balls as the visitors pass the 400-mark and lead Warwickshire by 179 runs at Edgbaston.

What had looked a likely Bears victory is now in the balance.

    Du Plooy lbw Mullaney 7 (Derbyshire 239 & 165-3 v Nottinghamshire 324 & 279)

Derbyshire need 200 more runs to win but lose first-innings centurion Leus du Plooy for seven.

On replay it looks pretty plumb - Notts skipper Steven Mullaney got plenty of swing.

Wayne Madsen has passed 12,000 first-class runs and remains there for the visitors while Notts have lost bowler Joey Evison to injury.
