  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Coughlin b Critchley 90 (Durham 312-7 v Derbyshire)

Right on the stroke of lunch Derbyshire get the wicket they so desperately wanted.

Paul Coughlin tries to punch leg-spinner Matt Critchley through the off side but gets a big inside edge onto the stumps.

His stand of 157 with Ned Eckersley comes to an end.

  2. Gloucestershire all outpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Somerset 237 v Gloucestershire 76

Gloucestershire's humiliation is complete as Ryan Higgins is the last man out.

Craig Overton with a fourth wicket and Somerset have steamrollered another batting line up.

They did Northamptonshire for 67 two weeks ago and this is another barnstorming display with the ball.

They take a giant lead of 161 - but not enough to enforce the follow-on remember with the revised playing regulations for this competition.

The seventh time Gloucestershire have been dismissed for 76 in their illustrious history but plenty of lower totals.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Scott c Davies b Lammonby 0 (Somerset 237 v Gloucestershire 76-9)

Well now Somerset really are taking the Mickey.

Tom Lammonby thrown the ball for the first time in his career - this is his fourth match - and his left-arm seamer strikes in his second over.

It's a goodun too, George Scott forced to play on a tight line, the ball goes across the right-hander a touch and finds an edge through to Steve Davies.

  4. 50 runs

for Eckersleypublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Durham 302-6 v Derbyshire

Still no wicket for North Group leaders Derbyshire in this session as Durham bring up their 300.

The seventh-wicket stand between Paul Coughlin (86*) and skipper Ned Eckersley (54*), who has just reached a patient half-century off 139 balls, is worth 147.

Coughlin also now has a first-class best score.

  5. Elsewhere...published at 12:47 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

It's been a fine morning session for Sussex who have reduced Middlesex to 55-4 at Radlett with paceman Ollie Robinson picking up a couple of wickets.

Also in the South Group Surrey are 17-1 against Kent at The Oval following the loss of Mark Stoneman in the first over of their innings - they still trail by 325.

Notts openers Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed continue to enjoy themselves against Leicestershire. Both have brought up their half-centuries with Notts on 129-0 in the North Group.

In the Central Group Northants are also piling on the runs against Glamorgan. They're 181-1 thanks to Charlie Thurston (89*) and Ben Curran (71*).

  6. 200 runs

200 for Will Rhodespublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Worcs v Warwickshire 334-6

There will be those for whom they wish counties hadn't bothered with first-class cricket in this truncated summer.

But Will Rhodes certainly isn't one of them.

He gently pulls Ed Barnard for a single to reach a maiden career double-century.

321 balls. 21 boundaries. Very well played.

  7. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Hants v Essex 83-0

    Alastair CookImage source, Rex Features

The rain which has halted the Test match at Southampton has made its way across to Arundel and they're heading off.

It's been a morning of dominance from South Group leaders Essex with stand-in opener Paul Walter on 43, and Alastair Cook on 30.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Bresnan c Libby b Morris 17 (Worcs v Warwickshire 331-6)

Almost everyone out on the fences now for Worcestershire as they try to contain the Warwickshire charge.

Tim Bresnan goes down swinging, hooking Charlie Morris to deep square.

Seven overs left for the Bears.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Roderick lbw C Overton 6 (Somerset 237 v Gloucestershire 71-8)

I mentioned Gloucestershire could look to their strong lower order and here was Gareth Roderick - a man with almost 5,000 first-class runs - coming out at No. 9.

But it's no good having the runs on paper.

Roderick falls over a full straight delivery from Craig Overton and falls lbw.

Gloucestershire will be disappointed with these dismissals this morning.

Yesterday they were very much "bowled out" but you can't say the same today.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Brook c Bohannon b Burrows 6 (Yorks 78-4 v Lancs)

    The Yorkshire collapse continues!

Harry Brook cuts George Burrows straight to Josh Bohannon at point. All the Bs. And it's a maiden first-class wicket for Lancashire seamer Burrows.

Adam Lyth has watched all this unfold from the other end - the former England opener is still there on 39.

If you're a fan of a flying stump then this photo from a little earlier will be right up your street.

Somerset's Jack Brooks the bowler, Tom Lace the Gloucestershire batsman.

Gloucestershire are still in all sorts of trouble at 69-7.

    Yorkshire 75-3 v Lancashire

Adam Lyth is beginning to look in good touch for Yorkshire.

The opener drives Danny Lamb through the covers for his sixth boundary to move to 39.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Burgess c Cox b Barnard 1 (Worcs v Warwickshire 308-5)

Nothing shot from Michael Burgess just poking the bat outside off flat-footedly and edging Ed Barnard behind.

The Bears have 12 overs left of their first-innings 120 but Worcestershire will feel they're still in the game, they haven't let this innings run away from them.

    And another wicket for Worcestershire...

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Mousley c Cox b Morris 47 (Worcs v Warwickshire 307-4)

Warwickshire have been rattling along this morning with overs running out and Dan Mousley has fallen short of a maiden first-class fifty trying to force the pace.

Looking to guide Charlie Morris square on the off side, he's edged behind.

A shame for the 19-year-old, born in Birmingham, but potential there it seems.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Loten lbw b Lamb 0 (Yorks 61-3 v Lancs)

Two in three balls for Lancashire seamer Danny Lamb!

Tom Loten is out lbw second ball.

In comes Harry Brook at five in this hugely inexperienced Yorkshire middle order.

  17. Around the Shires...published at 12:10 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

Northamptonshire's reply to a disastrous period around tea time yesterday with the ball continues to be very smart. Charlie Thurston cut Marchant de Lange over point for six to raise a century stand for the second-wicket. Glamorgan now under pressure with the home side 137-1

Paul Coughlin and Ned Eckersley are extending their seventh-wicket stand for Durham and taking them to 269-6, frustrating Derbyshire after such a good start yesterday.

Middlesex are steady at 33-1 replying to Sussex's 293. Max Holden, a left-hander of great patience, is 7 not out from 48 balls.

And Surrey have lost Mark Stoneman in the first over of their reply to Kent's 342. Last week's horror show no doubt still very raw.

    Hants v Essex 50-0

Alastair Cook Paul WalterImage source, Rex Features

Essex are enjoying themselves in this competition.

Three wins on the bounce to top the South Group and now Alastair Cook and Paul Walter have taken them to 50 without loss at Arundel.

With a day lost to the weather, Essex will only want to bat once in this game.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Lace b Brooks 21 (Somerset 237 v Gloucestershire 56-7)

    Important wicket for Somerset.

Tom Lace was just about holding things together for the visitors but a change of bowling has worked.

Jack Brooks with a full swinging delivery that Lace drags into his off stump.

    Disaster almost realised for Gloucestershire.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Fraine c Davies b Lamb 5 (Yorks 61-2 v Lancs)

Yorkshire lose a second wicket of the morning as Will Fraine nicks a beautiful outswinger from Lancashire seamer Danny Lamb behind.

Tom Loten, playing just his second first-class match, joins Adam Lyth in the middle.
