Sam Cook in the wickets again as Essex's strong start continues.

Middlesex skipper Steven Eskinazi is his second scalp of the morning as he edges through to wicketkeeper Adam Wheater.

Middlesex's decision to bat first not looking too clever right now.

  2. wicket

Davies lbw Reece 0 (Lancashire 2-2 v Derbys)

Derbyshire just have to match Yorkshire's result to finish top of the north group and they've put themselves in a great position with a super start in Liverpool.

This time it's Lancs opener Alex Davies who departs for a duck. Trapped lbw by Luis Reece.

Number four Rob Jones joins Josh Bohannon (2*) in the middle for the hosts.

  3. Somerset beginning to rebuildpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 6 September 2020

    Worc v Somerset 37-1

After that early wicket of Ben Green, the visitors are ticking along nicely.

Both Tom Lammonby and Tom Abell have made it into double digits now. We've had 11 overs so far, although but the ball is still doing plenty.

Dillon Pennington's just come into the attack for the Pears, replacing Josh Tongue. It's very much in the balance at New Road.

  4. Yorkshire grab first pointpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 6 September 2020

    Yorkshire v Leicestershire 12-3

First bowling point in the bag for Yorkshire at Headingley.

Leicestershire lose a third early wicket as Colin Ackermann is leg before to Matt Fisher to give him his second scalp of the morning.

Perfect start for the White Rose as they try to overhaul North Group leaders Derbyshire.

  5. Watchful start for Hampshire at Canterburypublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 6 September 2020

    Kent v Hampshire 28-0

The other South Group game to keep a close eye on this round is at Canterbury where second-placed Kent host third-placed Hampshire.

Both sides could still win the group and reach the final.

Joe Weatherley (5 not out) and Ian Holland (21 not out) have so far negotiated the first 10 overs of the new ball without much alarm after being put in.

Man-of-the-moment Zak Crawley returns to Kent colours for this one but so far is keeping a watching brief from the slip cordon.

  6. Yorkshire grab another early scalppublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 6 September 2020

    Yorkshire v Leicestershire 11-2

Yorkshire's promising start with the ball continues at Headingley.

Ben Coad in the wickets this time as he traps Foxes opener Sam Green leg before for just seven.

WHAT A START! FIRST BALL OF THE GAME!

We may have had a delayed start, but Sam Conners makes an instant impact, trapping Keaton Jennings for a golden duck.

Derbyshire already on top in a game that, if they win, could send them to Lord's.

  8. Salt called up to England squadpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 6 September 2020

Some breaking England squad news for you now.

Sussex batsman Phil Salt will join England’s ODI group as a reserve ahead of their series against Australia starting on Friday.

As such, he was not available for selection in Sussex’s match at Surrey today, which starts at 12:00 BST.

Ben Green run out Barnard 8 (Worc v Somerset 18-1)

Well there goes my 'Everything looks good for Somerset' draft.

The visitors looked comfortable against the new ball but Tom Lammonby drops one into the covers for a quick single that isn't on and Ben Green is brilliantly run out by Ed Barnard for eight.

Big wicket in a big game.

Sam Hain is trapped lbw by Timm van der Gugten for 4.

That's a second wicket for the Glamorgan bowler, Warwickshire are now 17-2 with Ian Bell joining Rob Yates in the middle.

Bell immediately gets going with a couple from his first ball. Few!

And another early wicket for Essex!

The South Group leaders already have another point in the bag with a third Middlesex wicket.

Sam Robson will feel a bit unlucky here though after offering no stroke to a Jamie Porter delivery that cuts back into him some distance to clip the top of off and middle stump.

North Group contenders Yorkshire have an early wicket at Headingley against Leicestershire thanks to Matt Fisher trapping Hasan Azad leg before for a duck.

Before play began, both sets of players and coaches lined-up on the outfield for a minute's silence in respect of former Northamptonshire and England all-rounder David Capel who passed away a few days ago.

  14. Ian Bell to retire at the end of the seasonpublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 6 September 2020

    Ian BellImage source, Rex Features

Warwickshire's former England batsman Ian Bell announced he will retire at the end of the 2020 domestic season yesterday.

The 38-year-old, and five-time Ashes winner, played 118 Tests for England and scored 22 Test centuries.

He spent his entire 22-year career at his home county Warwickshire, helping the side win six trophies.

"My body simply can't keep up with the demands of the game to the standard of which I expect of myself," Bell said.

Only Sir Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen have scored more Test centuries for England than Bell. He scored 7,727 Test runs at an average of 42.69.

A fantastic career and we'll keep you across his final red ball match.

Sam Hain is the new man at the crease, meaning we're only a dismissal away from seeing a certain Coventry-born batsman coming in....

Essex off to a flier with a second early Middlesex wicket!

Nick Gubbins survived a big leg before shout off his first ball from Sam Cook, but he doesn't survive this time against Jamie Porter.

Round the wicket he comes to the left hander and pins him on the front pad in front of all three. Gubbins departs for just two.

  17. Both sides looking for a positive finishpublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 6 September 2020

    Nottinghamshire v Durham 10-0

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle at Trent Bridge

It's a gorgeous day in Nottingham, where the two sides meeting in this one are trying to avoid the wooden spoon in the North Group.

Both have lost two and drawn two, with the draws badly affected by the weather. Durham have lost 368 overs in this competition so far.

Notts have not won a first-class game since they beat Essex on 23 June, 2018.

That is now a run of red ball blanks stretching 26 matches. So it is interesting to see one cricket website have this down as a home win.

Do they know something we don't know?

One thing is certain though. Durham's season will end on this ground in 14 days time.

That's the final round of matches in the T20 and their form in that is awful, having lost all four so far, they won't be getting out of that group.

Back to today and Durham have won the toss and are batting first with Alex Lees and Sean Dickson opening up.

  18. rain stops play

Rain delays start at Liverpoolpublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 6 September 2020

    Lancashire v Derbyshire

Not everyone was so eager to get playing at 10:30 though. We've got our first delay of the round.

A wet outfield forced the toss to be delayed at Liverpool in that crucial game for Derbyshire.

Its just been taken with Lancashire's Dane Vilas winning the toss and electing to bat.

Let's hope we can get those lost overs back later on in the day.

Jack Leach starts for Somersetpublished at 10:36 British Summer Time 6 September 2020

    Worc v Somerset 0-0

A bit of team news for you. In this winner takes all tie (unless some other sides win bigger) England spinner Jack Leach starts for Somerset.

How crucial could that be at New Road? Somerset are batting first so Leach could get a go on a tired, day four pitch.

Openers Ben Green and Tom Lammonby are yet to get off the mark for the visitors after two overs.
