Dushmantha Chameera has been the standout throughout the series for Sri Lanka. Even after a tough first two overs where he got met by Jonny Bairstow, he took 2-17 in his second spell, and he's just got that wicket. He's got a knack of taking wickets.

    Bowled him!

Moeen Ali chops on. Dushmantha Chameera had pushed him back with a couple of short balls, then suckered him in with the full one. Moeen's flash results in an inside edge that leaves the leg stump lying flat on the ground.

That could have been a gamechanger, but Sri Lanka still feel a little bit light.

Moeen Ali getting dropped has been pivotal.

Chameera is recalled for another spell, which I'm sure the big fast bowler is delighted about. Moeen holds the bat over his shoulder, like an axe, then ducks and sways out of the way of a couple of short balls.

It's good to see. What's the point of coming if you're going to go and watch the footy?

The crowd has thinned out a little bit, but not as much as I'd it expected to.

Sri Lanka have actually done their bit to entertain us today. Some comedy running, a double overthrow, now there's a terrible bit of fielding in the deep that gives Joe Root a boundary he had no right to get. Praveen is the culprit, trying to palm the ball to a team-mate, but instead pushing it over the boundary.

I do feel for Mickey Arthur because he is someone who does love winning. I've played against a few of his sides over the years and he is a real competitor. He'll be a little frustrated I think.

It's worth remembering that Moeen Ali was dropped from the first ball he faced. That would have been 80-5. Could have been very different.

Joe Root doesn't get frustrated with people, he talks to people. He is good at communicating. He doesn't get too hot headed, whether we're doing well or not.

That is key at the captain, knowing how to talk to each individual player. That is something Andrew Strauss was really good at.

    Target 186

Sam Curran leans over the balcony. He's been waiting to bat for a little while and could need treating for pad rash.

Joe Root's whole demeanour is quite laid back, and just watching him go about his business has quite a calming influence on the whole group. He doesn't get flustered too much in the field.

We've had the odd argument along the way, but who doesn't?

He gets angry when he gets out, but he rarely gets angry on the field or with his players. He tries to maintain a level head.

You want smart cricketers in your team. We've spoke about how aggressive England can be with the bat, but what you want from your team is not for them to go and smash it from ball one every time, but a team that can go out there and assess conditions and the opposition.

Hasaranga is back to bowl his leggies. When he's bowling to Moeen, it's the battle of the blue boots. All very sedate. Tip and run. Single here, single there. Steadily knocking it off.

This has been a wonderful partnership for England, it has just had that stabilising effect.

    Target 186

Lakshan has got quite a bustling, side-to-side approach. When he drops short, Moeen fetches a hook from outside off stump to the mid-wicket fence. A hint of acceleration towards the target.

With the way that Joe Root is playing at the moment, plus the current Sri Lanka bowlers not looking threatening and it being gentle, England will be expecting to get this done.

Jayawickrama is bowling his left-arm spin. The crowd has just started to thin a little. Where could they be going? It's not like there's anything better to do...
