Roy 40*, Bairstow 9*
The runs are coming freely for Jason Roy who notches back-to-back boundaries off Binura Fernando. The second is the pick as Roy cashes on a ball which is too short and wide and he punches it on the back foot through point.

Beautiful from Jason Roy. He didn't try to overhit it, he has been in complete control this innings.
Jonny Bairstow hacks a single before and gets a snide look from Asitha Fernando. A few balls later it's more effortless for Jason Roy, who is so strong off his legs and caresses it through mid-wicket for four.
Target 242
Jonny Bairstow pinches the strike at the end of the over to face the next over from Asitha Fernando. After a few dots Sri Lanka's players offer the bowler plenty of words of encouragement. You can see the frustration building for Bairstow with Jason Roy playing so freely at the other end.

Jonny Bairstow has creamed a few balls, only to find fielders on each occasion. He whips Binura Fernando through the on side for a couple of runs, with a sweeper now in place, so no boundaries for the Yorkshireman just yet.

It's a lovely, lovely evening in London now. Perfect for some early-evening entertainment from Roy and Bairstow.
That's a pretty accurate assessment. England making this look like a 300-plus pitch at the moment. Jason Roy quickly on to 28 off 21 deliveries.

At the moment it looked pretty comfortable for England. The fielding has been good from Sri Lanka but the bowling hasn't looked threatening yet.
Target 242
An early bowling change for Sri Lanka as Dushmantha Chameera is replaced by Asitha Fernando. Jason Roy is busy in the crease, and saunters down the wicket before another one of those powerful wristy flicks square of the wicket for four. Good intent from the England opener.

Jason Roy loves giving the photographers plenty to work with at the end of his shots. He loves to hold the pose.
Jason Roy walks out between deliveries from Binura Fernando to do a bit of gardening with a pensive look on his face. Fourth ball of the over and he is quickly on to a wide one and crisply strikes it to through the covers all along the fall to the boundary.

You often think of a flick as a dainty, wristy shot but that was so powerful from Jason Roy.
Third ball of the over Dushmantha Chameera hits the seam and gets Jason Roy gets himself in a bit of a tangle trying to fend the ball to the leg side. The final ball of the over is a half-volley, however, drifts on to the leg side and Roy powerfully dispatches it to the fence through mid-wicket.

England are going for it here but Sri Lanka have saved a few runs with some much improved fielding so far.
Jason Roy advances down the pitch to Dushmantha Chameera and mistimes a filthy slog across the line for four. Not the prettiest of shots, but four in the book. A little more elegantly Roy punches it back from the covers for a three a ball later.

England have lost four of their last six ODI chases of scores between 225 and 299.
Binura Fernando from the pavilion end and given the success of left-arm seamers today England's opening pair are in watchful mode. Just a single off the over which Jason Roy nudged into the leg side.

If Sri Lanka really put up a fight, take some early wickets and make England wobble, they'll give themselves something to be proud of.
