If England keep taking singles they are putting pressure on Pakistan.

It is not easy for Pakistan to walk through this game. But they need one wicket, and maybe the water now and a few heads saying "we're one wicket away" will help.

There's a superheroes summit happening in Birmingham as Superman, Superwoman, Batman and Robin watch on from the Hollies stand as the players take drinks.

The bulk of the runs definitely need to come from these guys. They are experienced.

Lewis Gregory is a brilliant player for Somerset, as is James Vince for Hampshire.

History indeed, Aatif. If England do pull this off, it will be the highest ever ODI run-chase at Edgbaston.

Shadows of the players extend on the outfield as we enter the latter stages of this day/night game.

Hassan Ali bowls outside off, Lewis Gregory flashes and an inside edge could have easily clipped off stump. Instead, it's fielded by the wicketkeeper.

There is still a lot of cricket to be played. Stick around. You might just catch a piece of history.

  6. Eng 210-5published at 31 overs

Good understanding between Gregory and Vince as they knock it about and take the singles, Saud Shakeel conceding six from the over.

Not many risks being taken by this England pair, happy to reduce the deficit.

Now is the time for James Vince to turn this two figures into three figures.

  8. Eng 204-5published at 30 overs

    Target 332

Lewis Gregory has batted smart since he's come in, rotating the strike well and allowing Vince to play for the boundary.

Gregory is on 14 from 18.

I think very highly of James Vince. He has all the shots and all the timing. He's a great player.

  10. 200 runs

    Eng 202-5published at 29.3 overs

Back-to-back boundaries! This isn't the best ball from Hassan, much wider, and Vince again slashes it through the same region for four more, bringing up England's 200.

  11. Eng 196-5published at 29.2 overs

    Shot!

Hassan Ali offers up the slightest bit of width and James Vince rocks back and crashes the ball through backward point for four.

Look at the body language of Pakistan! This is the wicket. Get James Vince and you're favourites to win.

But they are just jogging around, some of them not even certain where to field.

  13. Eng 192-5published at 29 overs

    Target 332

Jame Vince miscues a drive but the ball clears the outfield and England run two.

Four from Shakeel's over. A slightly more sensible approach to batting from England here, you get the feeling they know they can't really afford to lose another wicket right now.

  14. Pak 189-5published at 28 overs

    Target 332

Vince plays a textbook cover drive as the ball goes racing towards the boundary. A shot which you'd expect to make the highlights programme.

Nice comeback from Shadab Khan who concedes just two from the rest of the over.

James Vince to do the Nasser if he scores a ton?

A single to end Saud Shakeel's over.

It's not just the catches, it's the misfields, allowing England to run two when there is only one - Pakistan have just been woeful in the field.

That is as easy as you get.

  19. Gregory dropped on 10published at 26.5 overs

    Eng 181-6

    ANOTHER PAKISTAN DROP!

And this one is the easiest of them all.

Lewis Gregory chips the ball up towards Imam Ul-Haq at mid-off and - yet again - a Pakistan fielder goes with one hand instead of two.

An ugly drop and Pakistan are making this so much harder for themselves.

    Cheers, Jack.

So we're just over three quarters the way and that John Simpson dismissal (on his 33rd birthday, by the way) tips this match in Pakistan's favour.
