  1. Pak 34-0published at 4 overs

Rizwan tried one sweep at Curran and took a top edge to the chops for his trouble. Nevertheless, he tries a repeat and gets four for it. Gutsy.

Incredibly disappointing not to see Banton picked. He's been open about suffering mentally from bubble fatigue due to spending so long with England last year/winter, pulling out of the BBL. As soon as he hit form, England recalled him, didn't pick him, he had to isolate 10 days, they've then kept him in the squad... only to continue running drinks. Very unfair on a young player.

Mark Burt: Babar’s cover driving is a work of art. The rest of his strokes aren’t too shabby either. The man is pure class.

  5. Pak 27-0published at 3.1 overs

Tom Curran is on. Black headband, floppy hair.

He looks like he could karate kick your head off.

  6. Not outpublished at 3 overs

    Pak 27-0

Just - and I mean just - missing leg stump.

    Very good decision.

    Now then.

"I think this is in line," says Jonny Bairstow.

    Babar leg before?

  9. Pak 26-0published at 2.5 overs

    Wristy.

Twice Babar is on the walk at Willey, whipping to the leg-side boundary on two separate occasions.

That is the sign of a class player. Babar has not tried to over-hit it. He is such a nice player to watch.

  11. Pak 18-0published at 2.3 overs

We're told that Jos Buttler still hasn't fully recovered from his calf injury, so that's why he isn't playing tonight.

The remaining games are on Sunday and Tuesday, with The Hundred kicking in next week. The first Test against India is two weeks after that.

Lovely from Babar. A cover drive up to that short boundary for four.

England have bowled well. Pakistan are just being a little watchful to start.

  13. Pak 11-0published at 2 overs

Too wide from Mahmood. Rizwan flays one through the covers, then the bowler is fortunate to see another hit straight at a fielder.

Ed O'Toole: With the short boundaries, hoping to see some catches in the crowd this evening. Was atrocious in the 50-over games

  17. Pak 5-0published at 1 over

David Willey is absolutely begging here. A big in-ducker that is ultimately heading towards the boundary.

    Bat or pad?

Edge of the bat. England right not to review.

That has just carried for me. It hit Malan's wrists quite hard.

  19. dropped catch

    Close!published at 0.4 overs

    Pak 1-0

Has that carried? A big drive from Babar, Dawid Malan at a wide slip. Not held. Tough to call it a drop.

David Willey has the ball. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam are at the crease. There are 17,000 inside Trent Bridge and one of the boundaries is miniscule.

    Should be a cracker...
