And then the key moment on the stroke of lunch.

An absolute blinder of a catch by Jonny Bairstow at second slip sent KL Rahul packing. It was just rewards for England, who had bowled really well.

It leaves India 34-1 at lunch, still trailing by 320. Rohit Sharma will be joined by Cheteshwar Pujara when we get back under way at 13:40 BST. Pujara has looked seriously out of form in this series so far.

Rohit Sharma, who is unbeaten on 25 at lunch, has found a decent balance between attack and defence so far.

His wicket is a key one that England will want to pick up.

England thought they had an early breakthrough when KL Rahul was given out lbw off Ollie Robinson.

Rahul, after a long chat with Rohit Sharma, decided to review and the technology showed the ball was missing leg stump.

Michael Vaughan found it difficult to believe.

Before play started this morning Joe Root told TMS that he wanted England to bat for as long as possible.

    Well that was 20 balls.

They added nine runs, largely thanks to two Craig Overton boundaries, before he was trapped lbw by Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah bowled Ollie Robinson.

It left England with a 354-run lead on first innings.

A couple of years ago, after England had suffered a particularly bad day in the field, Jonny Bairstow was taking questions from the press. Not best pleased with being asked why catches keep getting dropped, Bairstow invited us all to join in England's training sessions. If it involves having to take one-handed worldies at second slip, I'm not sure I'll cut the mustard.

Remember, you've all got to watch it at least five times.

Don't let Josh, me or the nation down.

If you replay that catch less than five times, you're not an England supporter. What a scorcher of a catch JB.

I've got the catch for you... but before I need to give you some instructions from Josh in Woodstock.

    Make sure you follow them.

Jonny Bairstow started this series at point, before moving to gully, and has now, after Dom Sibley being dropped, ended up at second slip.

It highlights the struggles that England have had with their team, and catching, but makes that grab even better.

Mid-life man: That was an excellent session of Test match cricket from both teams, disciplined batting and bowling, rounded off by a fine catch from Bairstow. Really, really good cricket.

David: Take a bow, Jonny Bairstow. That is a blinder of a catch, an absolute worldie.

That was between Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow - what a reflex catch, diving to his left and behind him. That was soooo good.

    I absolutely love this picture.

Jonny Bairstow looks elated. Jos Buttler can barely believe it. And that cheeky Joe Root grin.

    Things you love to see.

    Thanks Ffion.

England had been high-class with the ball, but were on the verge of being incredibly frustrated, until that moment of absolute brilliance from Jonny Bairstow.

We'll bring you a clip of it as soon as possible.

Here's Callum Matthews to take you through the interval and the afternoon session.

That wicket just before lunch will be so irritating for India.

Laugh, and grow fat: What a catch that is!

Issy Savin de Larclause: What a catch YJB!

    Mowla: WHAT A CATCH! BAIRSTOW!!!!

Well, that was a fun end to the session but a terrible one for India, who had grafted for sooo long and seen off the real threat of Anderson and Robinson with a new ball. They are still 320 runs behind.

England will be buzzing coming back out after lunch after that stunner from Bairstow. We'll have a clip of that for you as soon as possible - it'll be worth it.

Bairstow has taken a stunner of a catch. What a great grab.
