Dan Lawrence has had to rebowl the final delivery because it was a no ball. Which is annoying. It's very solidly defended by Lahiru Thirimanne.

There's three men in catching positions for Dan Lawrence, and they have to duck for cover as Angelo Mathews batters a sweep through them to get off the mark.
That is a beauty from Lawrence! It has exploded off the pitch from a middle stump line to turn and completely beat Lahiru Thirimanne's outside edge.
Dan Lawrence will continue.

Sri Lanka will be saying just bat the day and see where they are at the end of it.
Drinks for the players. Make Joe Root's a double.

It's too straight from Jack Leach - get it out there!
Get it wide of off stump. We've not seen him have a period of two or three overs where he's got it wide to the left-hander.

Edged - and past Joe Root at slip!
That's a better ball from Jack Leach, spinning and heading to Root at slip, but the ball drops just past his hand as he moves to his right. The problem is Root has such a defensive field, because he's not sure what he's going to get from his bowlers, that there's not that extra man or two around the bat to back up those chances.
Jack Leach will continue.
I'll be honest, I was hoping for Dom Sibley.

As a captain you give Dan Lawrence one more full bunger before he probably doesn't get another.

How to describe Dan Lawrence's bowling action? It's... loopy. He jumps at the start, flicking his arm behind him like he's swatting at a fly, before moving into this high pirouette of an arm snap.
That, I'm afraid, is hideous. A rank full toss, coming through at waist height, and an obliging Lahiru Thirimanne clubs it for four.

Dan Lawrence is bowling!!
IT'S HAPPENING. One of the great bowling actions.
Make that back-to-back maidens for Jack Leach.

Lahiru Thirimanne has been in and out of the side, but as an opening batsman you know your currency is hundreds so for him to only be getting his second is not a great return in 10 years.
He's played so well under pressure. He's played with a tremendous control.
Thirimanne 103, Mathews 12

It has been a terrific knock. He's had a little bit of luck here and there but he must feel so relieved.
He's been under a lot of pressure from the Sri Lankan media.
There it is!
2,871 days after the first, Lahiru Thirimanne has his second Test century. He lets out a roar after carving Dom Bess through point for four to reach the milestone from 227 balls.
Lahiru Thirimanne, on 99, will face up to Dom Bess.

Joe Root is gesturing at Jack Leach, almost telling him to be patient and calm down.
