And I'm running out of words to describe Joe Root. We're watching an England great add more and more chapters to his storybook.

Keep your favourite Root memories coming.

How good is this guy by the way? Ben Stokes' last red-ball innings was on 8 August last year. He sat out the final two Tests of the summer for personal reasons and then was rested for Sri Lanka.

He's taken the attack to India, survived a few scares, and batted brilliantly.

Thanks Callum. I'm suspicious. Things are going well for England. Too well...

Time for me to go and have some breakfast.

Matt Henry will take you through the afternoon session. Hopefully it is another wicketless one for England.

Ben Stokes has done the majority of the scoring in that session - scoring 63 of the 92 runs. He's been dropped twice - on 31 and 32 - but he has taken the attack to India superbly and hit nine fours and two sixes.

Root has moved from 128 overnight to 156 and accumulated nicely.

    The perfect morning?

England have added 92 runs in 29.3 overs without losing a wicket. They are in complete and utter control and just need to bat, bat and bat some more.

    Eng 355-3 (Root 156, Stokes 63)

Washington Sundar is bowling a little bit quicker than the other two Indian spinners and the pitch is offering him a little bit more turn and bounce as a result. That will be something the England spinners need to think about.

Just one off the final over but what a session for England.

Go and enjoy a sandwich, boys.

Oh my, that is a lovely shot from Ben Stokes.

His balance is perfect, and his placement is just supreme as he threads it through three fielders in the on side for his 11th boundary.

We've time for one more over before lunch.

You'd be a brave person to bet against Joe Root joining Kumar Sangakkara at the top of that list in the next Test.

    Root 154, Stokes 59

Shot! Ben Stokes nails another sweep shot to the fence.

We've seen in Sri Lanka with Root and in this innings how crucial the sweep shot can be in Asia. Both of these two play it superbly.

And again! He cloths this one slightly but it is the same result. Stokes has hit four fours and a six in the last seven overs. He's on the attack.

Jasprit Bumrah's yorkers are giving me serious feels. He nails it every single time. I have a fairly terrible memory when it comes to cricket, but I've not seen anyone deliver them as consistently as him. Superb.

Joe Root does well to dig out the latest one.

This pitch definitely has more demons in it today than yesterday as Washington gets one to spit and bounce at Joe Root.

Root is able to laugh with England on 338-3. Virat Kohli less so.

Washington Sundar is into the attack, replacing Shahbaz Nadeem.

Yesterday was the first time I'd seen Washington and I felt he kept throwing up a bad ball every over so England may have the opportunity to pick up some runs here.
