Before we leave you, a quick update from the thrilling Test in Mirpur.

West Indies pulled off a 17-run victory against their hosts Bangladesh to take an entertaining series 2-0.

Bangladesh were 101-4 chasing 231 but came up agonisingly short in the end.

A last-wicket stand took them from 188-9 to 213-9 before Mehedi Hasan was caught at slip by Rahkeem Cornwall.

  3. 'Extremely difficult'published at 11:29 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2021

England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes after he top-scored for 42: "It was extremely difficult. They are a high quality spin outfit and the pitch was playing a few tricks. I was just trying to play for the ball that wasn't going to rag and play late. The ball was taking the top of the surface and was spitting a lot. It was about accepting that.

"We have to apply ourselves second innings. It is tough and not going to get any easier. We have to play in our own game-plans and limits."

India like getting the opposing captain into that mindset. There's that negativity and seed of doubt you've thrown into the opposing captain's mind that things are going against you. Joe has got to get back to the hotel tonight, speak to the senior coaching members and understand it is what it is.

Only Joe Root has scored more runs than Jos Buttler for England in Test cricket since the start of last summer. He plays regardless for me. If you want to get Foakes in then you'll have to find another batsman to drop.

Ben Foakes has only played a few games but he looks to me like the best wicketkeeper in the world. He makes it look so easy, the ball melts into his gloves.

He's such a good batsman too. Later down the track, will Buttler play as a batsman with Foakes keeping wicket?

The debate around the pitch rumbles on. Yes, England have had it tough but they could have done better. Do what they can in the rest of this match and come back stronger in the third.

This is a real poor cricket wicket but India have maximised what is in front of them.

Let's be honest, England have produced wickets over the years which we haven't been sure of. But I do like to see pitches where it looks like you will play on for at least four days.

We know what is going to happen in the summer - England will play India in five Tests and it's just going to hoop around over the place and I won't be a fan of that either. I want a fair balance.

England have got to just fight. You never know, someone could do something remarkable. It looks like England will lose this game but try and take something into the next Test. Don't get too demoralised.

There's a lot of talk about the third umpire. He's not simply just getting the decisions wrong, he's not even letting the replays roll on.

I think Joe Root has to understand that over the past two days his team have been on the wrong end the decisions and the conditions but India have played better this week.

They have played a brand of cricket that is very intimidating. In Ravichandran Ashwin they have the best spinner, by a distance, over the two teams. And in Rohit Sharma a world-class performer who has delivered.

Rohit has scored 186 runs in 48.5 overs on this pitch and has been out once. England are 134-10 in 59.5 overs.

    India's lead is already insurmountable.
