  1. Eng 116-3published at 13.4 overs

Four more! This time Bairstow gets down on one knee and forces the ball through the leg side. 50 partnership from 30 balls.

  2. 6 runs

    Eng 112-3published at 13.3 overs

Oh, Jonny Bairstow, stop it. Another huge blow over deep mid-wicket.

  3. Eng 106-3published at 13.2 overs

Bairstow is clearly targeting this final over by Sundar Washington. He mistimes the first delivery, which falls just short of mid-wicket, before clonking one through square leg for four.

The best cricketer I knew growing up lived on Cricket Lane in Middlesbrough.

  6. Eng 100-3published at 13 overs

There will be a lot of Hales talk in the coming weeks and months, I imagine.

Is there a case to open with Roy and Hales, Vince at 3 with Buttler coming in at 6? Probably at expense of Bairstow.

  8. 6 runs

    Eng 100-3published at 12.5 overs

Aaaaand... right on cue, Ben Stokes smashes it back over the bowler's head.

  9. Eng 94-3published at 12.4 overs

The England batsmen exchange a couple of singles, before Bairstow misses out on a slog sweep.

Just three from the first four deliveries off this Chahar over. England will be looking for a big shot.

  11. 6 runs

    Eng 91-3published at 12 overs

Bairstow nudges to Virat Kohli for at cover for a well-taken run. England intent on running quick singles and there seems to be a good understanding between Stokes and Bairstow.

Stokes then hoicks Sundar over mid-wicket - it was six as soon as it left the bat.

There's lots of chat about Ben Stokes being lost/wasted in this England T20 side. Eoin Morgan is getting Stokes in above himself to get him more involved in the game.

  13. Eng 83-3published at 11.3 overs

Stokes hangs back in his crease and wallops Washington Sundar to long-on for four. You can see he really forced - and put everything into that - shot.

Kumaran Ravendradas: Captain Morgan hasn't done a good job of getting this batting order right for England. He should be up the order as a superior player of spin and Ali should be playing in Indian conditions. Malan clearly struggling on these sluggish surfaces.

  15. Eng 79-3published at 11 overs

Stokes goes aerial and the ball falls agonisingly short of deep mid-wicket, the fielder dives over it in a valiant attempt at the catch and England get four for their troubles.

A bit of hope for the tourists, India were also exactly 79-3 after 11 overs.

Need Hales back in the fold and in at three. Despite his IPL heroics, Malan is a 50-over batter.

    Chris, Tynemouth

Eoin Morgan needs to bring back Alex Hales. Too good a batsman to keep out of the team for a two-year-old incident.

    Eng 76-3

Yeah, well in! A good single in the end.

  18. Umpire reviewpublished at 10.1 overs

    Eng 72-3

Bairstow works Chahar off the hips, they take a quick single and we go to the TV umpire. I think it's just a regulation check, Stokes looked to me as if he made it in.

  19. Eng 71-3published at 10 overs

Being a slow starter in T20 cricket only pays off if you go big.

Stokes struck on the pads but there's a thick inside edge. Just five from the over.

England need 115 from 10 overs.

Malan’s scores in the series: 24*(20), 24 (23), 18 (17), 14 (17). There's an argument to say these innings use up too much time for the runs they’re worth.
