Timed to perfection. Jason Roy has his eye in as he showcases a perfect golf swing down the ground for six.

There is a silly mid-off crescent near me. OK, there isn't, but there should be.

Kohli turns to spin as Sundar Washington is introduced. Talking of street names, there must be a Washington Road somewhere, right?

Slog-sweep four from Roy. He plays that shot so well.

That's a big miss by Shakur. He went one-handed when he really didn't need to. He obviously misjudged the height and put it down. Malan gets a life.

  5. dropped catch

Shardul drops Malan on 3published at 4.5 overs

Oh dear, India's poor fielding in this series continues. Malan plays a ramp shot and Shardul Thakur - at short third man - makes a right meal of it.

He tried to dive backwards and take it one handed. He didn't need to dive. Two hands would have been fine and I'm pretty sure his feet didn't need to leave the ground.

We have a Vaughan Road in Stotfold, Beds. Very long - seems to go on forever.

  7. Eng 29-1published at 4.3 overs

A change of ends for Hardik Pandya, who outfoxes Malan with a well-disguised off-cutter, the England batsman playing it about an hour too early. OK, slight exaggeration.

Will Malan play a supporting role here and Roy let off the fireworks?

  8. Eng 28-1published at 4 overs

More fortune for Jason Roy who this time finds the outside edge to send the ball looping over short third man for four.

I say it's fortunate, he hits it with such power that the ball is bound to go flying somewhere. The 1,000-run landmark will be even more sweeter if he can produce a match-winning innings here.

Jonathan France: England can’t afford Malan to have too much of a look here. That’s the only weak link in the side IMO. In a powerplay, in India, chasing 180+ can Malan go from ball 1?

  10. Eng 22-1published at 3.2 overs

A change in bowling as Shardul Thakur replaces Pandya. And Jason Roy advances down the wicket, an inside-edge sends the ball to the left of 'keeper Pant four for.

And with that piece of luck, Jason Roy has reached 1000 T20 runs for England.

  11. Eng 15-1published at 3 overs

You feel Buttler really wanted to up the intensity after those quiet first couple of overs. Dawid Malan the new man in.

England's first danger man has gone. Jos Buttler is looking to clip it off the pads but a leading edge sends the ball high, but not far. KL Rahul with an easy enough grab.

    Not the start England wanted.

Jos Buttler can really hit a ball, can't he? The opener takes a step back and launches Kumar over square leg for six.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar with his first wayward delivery of this spell and Roy easily clips it off the hips for four.

It takes Jason Roy nine deliveries for his first run but he's got there.

But India bowling beautiful here, lots of variations; short balls, slower balls, mixing up the line.

A quiet start from England, but all that can change very quickly.

Hardik Pandya, with his two ear studs and tattoos, is a cool fella.

Jos Buttler is off the mark with a prod to square leg before Roy misses out on a pull shot. A good start from Hardik.
