    Gubbins b Topley 4 (Middlesex 16-2 v Surrey 154)

  7. 'Zaib halts Glamorgan advance'published at 16:07 British Summer Time 22 April 2021

Northants v Glamorgan 226-6 - tea, day one

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

The teams head into the final session still evenly matched at Northampton as two wickets in two balls for left-arm spinner Saif Zaib halted the Glamorgan advance.

Kiran Carlson reached a fluent half-century, cover-driving beautifully, before being yorked by Zaib who next ball removed the off-bail of Callum Taylor.

Northants looked in control when debutant Wayne Parnell had Billy Root lbw for 13 just after lunch, before Carlson and captain Chris Cooke compiled a hundred stand to put Glamorgan briefly on top.

Cooke started cautiously but has started to hit his stride as he reached 50 off 81 balls, with his side looking as though they need 300 on a decent track.

  8. 'Good session for Sussex'published at 16:06 British Summer Time 22 April 2021

    Sussex 40-0 v Yorkshire 150 - tea, day one

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A very good session for Sussex, who wrapped up the four remaining Yorkshire wickets and then reached tea 40-0.

The wickets were shared around the Sussex bowlers, who all bowled well, and were handled and rotated well by skipper Ben Brown.

This looks like a good pitch, and at this stage Yorkshire having won the toss will feel there score is well below par

  9. 'Pitch losing life?'published at 16:05 British Summer Time 22 April 2021

Leics 167-6 v Somerset - tea, day one

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset

The Somerset bowlers have had to work hard for their wickets in an attritional afternoon session in which the pitch seems to be losing some of its life under the influence of strong spring sunshine.

After Craig Overton had bounced out Harry Swindells, Lewis Hill and Ben Mike added 59 for the sixth wicket, the stand broken by Jack Leach's very first ball, as he pinned Mike lbw.

But Hill is still there, with a fourth consecutive 50 under his belt, batting neatly and positively.

  10. Middlesex lose early wicketpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 22 April 2021

    Middlesex 8-1 v Surrey 154

Just what the doctor ordered for Surrey after their first-innings batting collapse.

Reece Topley has just removed Middlesex opener Max Holden thanks to a sharp catch at slip by captain Rory Burns.

It's tea everywhere now, except at Lord's where they're into the final session, so probably a good time to have a look at the latest scores...

  13. Sussex looking in controlpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 22 April 2021

    Sussex 40-0 v Yorkshire 150

It's not improved a lot for Yorkshire this afternoon.

After being bowled out for 150, they have failed to get a wicket in Sussex's response, as Tom Haines (27*) and Aaron Thomason (13*) make it through to tea unscathed.

  14. 'Derbyshire must be kicking themselves'published at 15:54 British Summer Time 22 April 2021

Durham 203-3 v Derbyshire - tea, day one

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Derbyshire must be kicking themselves for not running out David Bedingham when they had the chance. But he survived that drama when he was on one and now has 100. It's often the way, isn't it?

This was his second of the season following his career-best 180* in the opening game at Trent Bridge. Today's century came in 143 balls and 15 fours.

Jack Burnham, who has lots of unfulfilled promise has reached 50. It came in 69 balls and included five fours. He often gets carried away, as he did with Simon Harmer last week and paid the price then.

When Matt Critchley returned with some leg spin this afternoon Burnham again looked excited but after a scare Bedingham had a word with him and he calmed down again. He has timed his cover drives well though. Can he go on to join his partner in three figures? He's only recorded the one century so far

Durham are 203-3 and these two have put on 95 to bring them a first batting point. They were 7-2 earlier this morning. We're now at tea. Burnham has 54 and Bedingham 106.

  15. 50 runs

for Hillpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 22 April 2021

    Leics 162-6 v Somerset

Leicestershire's Lewis Hill is in the form of his life right now.

The 30-year-old goes to his fourth successive Championship half-century following scores of 70 and 69 not out against Surrey and 65 against Hampshire.

More importantly he's helped his side recover from 74-5 against Somerset.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Bohannonpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 22 April 2021

    Kent v Lancashire 177-4

Josh Bohannon has taken his time to get to a much-needed half-century for Lancashire, with his fifth-wicket partnership with Dane Vilas adding almost 100 runs to their total.

  17. Postpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 22 April 2021

    Middlesex 0-0 v Surrey 154

Sam Robson and Max Holden get Middlesex's first innings going after tea.

Will wickets continue to tumble at Lord's?

  18. Zaib takes two quick wicketspublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 22 April 2021

    Northants v Glamorgan 213-6

Northants have broken the Kiran Carlson/Chris Cooke partnership and it's all down to some superb bowling from Saif Zaib.

The spinner has only just been brought into the action but makes an immediate impact by clean-bowling Carlson before doing the same to new man Callum Taylor with his next ball.

A couple of wonderful deliveries which completely deceived the batsmen to give Northants a huge boost ahead of tea.
