    Holland had a reprieve a short time ago when he was dropped at slip by Kraigg Brathwaite.

    In a game of few chances for Gloucestershire, that was one he will wish he could have another go at.

    They've added over 100 runs since Billy Root's dismissal to leave Northants searching for a much-needed breakthrough before tea.

    Rikki Clarke is run out by a direct hit from Nick Gubbins for 28 and that's the end of Surrey's first innings before tea on day one.

    Tim Murtagh was Middlesex's star performer with the ball taking 4-28.

    And that will indeed be tea.

    Kiran Carlson and Chris Cooke have steadied the Glamorgan ship with a partnership which has just reached 75.

    They had looked in a bit of trouble when Billy Root fell to leave them on 105-4 but the outlook has improved this afternoon.

    It came off 136 balls and the defending champions are beginning to build a solid platform in their first innings at Edgbaston.

    Former Notts opener Jake Libby remains unbeaten on 79.

    Ollie Robinson has been quiet by his recent high standards but he gets in on the action here to clear up the Yorkshire tail.

    First he has Steve Patterson caught behind by Ben Brown and three balls later David Willey is gone too as Yorkshire are bowled out for 150.

    You would struggled to have believed this outcome with the visitors looking comfortable early on this morning when Adam Lyth and Tom Kohler-Cadmore were at the crease.

    They were 60-1 when Lyth fell, with the rest of the wickets tumbling with increasing regularity for just 90 runs.

    Essex pair Paul Walter (30 not out) and Nick Browne (34 not out) are leading a decent recovery in the afternoon sunshine at Edgbaston.

    They've put on 48 for the fourth wicket and suddenly batting is looking a bit easier for the defending champions.
