  1. 'Glamorgan have slight advantage'published at 16:18 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Tea - Northants 364 v Glamorgan 407 & 92-2

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan take a 135 run lead into the final session after working hard to re-establish their slight advantage in the game.

Northants have also suffered an injury blow with captain Adam Rossington off the field with a hand injury as he spilled an apparent chance off David Lloyd.

Lloyd gave Glamorgan a rapid start with 38 off 51 balls but could not profit from his let-off as stand-in keeper Ricardo Vasconcelos snaffled an edge from Nathan Buck’s bowling.

Buck then trapped Andrew Balbirnie for nought with a series of short-pitched balls to the Ireland captain, one of which he pulled to deep mid-wicket where sub fielder Brandon Glover took the catch.

Nick Selman took root at one end with a stolid 28 in the session, while Billy Root reached a skittish 24 by the interval.

  2. 'Both sides have a chance'published at 16:18 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Tea: Warwickshire 284 v Essex 295 & 132-6

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM

Not long after lunch, Olly Stone rushed a ball into the pads of Ryan ten Doeschate - half the Essex side were out with a lead of only 47, and a three-day defeat for the champions was possible.

That looks unlikely now, but they are still vulnerable, despite some obstinate batting in the middle session led by Dan Lawrence.

His defensive technique has been precise, and he blunted the Warwickshire attack just at the moment that they seemed set to surge through the Essex card.

For a while Adam Wheater matched that and added some of the more assured strokeplay of the day, but having reached 30 he pulled a ball from Craig Miles from outside off-stump high to square leg.

Simon Harmer found batting difficult until being rattled on the helmet by Miles; after that it was no surprise to see Warwickshire test him with some more short balls, but he appeared more assured.

In the final over of the session Lawrence reached a mature half-century, and with a possible four sessions to go both sides may have an even chance.

    Warwickshire 284 v Essex 295 & 132-6

Just what Essex needed from their England batsman.

Dan Lawrence brings up his half-century. He's helped the visitors fight back from 35-5 at Edgbaston to 132-6.

  5. Postpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Worcs 436 v Notts 276 & 2-0 (f/o)

Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed get things going for Notts after tea.

How fresh will Hameed be after batting for 400 minutes in the first innings for his 111?

  6. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Durham 475 & 48-1 v Derbyshire 267

Durham reach tea with a lead of 256 after deciding not to enforce the follow-on.

Will they want to have another crack at Derbyshire tonight?

Or just see what they end up with and then have a full day bowling tomorrow?

  7. 'Relief for Lammonby'published at 16:02 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Tea: Leics v Somerset 51-1 (target 115)

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset

Runs at last for Tom Lammonby!

You could almost sense the relief flooding through the young left-hander's veins as he walked off at tea, with 32 runs to his name, after scores of 5,0,0,0 and 8 in his previous five innings.

With Tom Abell being the soul of watchfulness at the other end, the two Toms have taken Somerset a long way towards their target of 115.

  8. Pears enforce follow-onpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Worcs 436 v Notts 276

As expected with four sessions left in the game.

  9. Tea at Leicestershirepublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Leics v Somerset 51-1 (target 115)

Somerset are well on their way to reaching a small target of 115 at tea.

Tom Lammonby (32 not out) and Tom Abell (8 not out) will be looking to knock off the final 64 needed in the final session.

  10. wicket

Notts all out for 276published at 15:51 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Worcs 436 v Notts 276

Notts lose their last two wickets in two balls.

First Zak Chappell is run out and Alzarri Joseph then bowls Dane Paterson with his next delivery.

Notts trail by 160. Will the Pears enforce the follow on? You'd probably say yes with a day and a session remaining.

    It's tea at New Road.

  11. Postpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Tea - Sussex 221 & 59-1 v Yorkshire 150 & 305

Yorkshire have only the dismissal of Aaron Thomason by Dom Bess to take into the tea break with them.

Lots of work for them to do after the break with Sussex needing 176 more runs, with nine wickets in hand.

  12. 50 runs

for Higginspublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Hampshire 470 v Gloucestershire 266-5

Ryan Higgins brings-up his half-century in the game at the top of Group Two.

He and George Hankins' partnership has just rolled over 50 too as the West Country side trail by 204.

A crucial point in this game now if these two can stay in and carry on eating into that lead their confidence will grow, but a Hampshire wicket would change the momentum.

  13. Postpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Warwickshire 284 v Essex 295 & 115-6

If Essex could just edge their lead up towards 200 at Edgbaston then we'd be in for a cracking chase.

Dan Lawrence and Simon Harmer are doing the job rather nicely for the visitors at the moment. England batsman Lawrence has 40 and the lead is 126.

  14. Postpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Leics v Somerset 42-1 (target 115)

I said that Tom Lammonby could do with a knock here to get his season going, and he's doing just that.

The Somerset opener has raced onto 26 off 29 balls with six boundaries.

    73 more needed.

  15. 50 runs

for Coxpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Kent 169 & 123-0 v Lancashire 525

Well, where was all this in the first innings?

Kent have started superbly and Jordan Cox joins fellow opener Daniel Bell-Drummond in reaching a half-century this afternoon.

He's played some nice strokes along the way, with seven fours and a six.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Hameed c Cox b Leach 111 (Worcs 436 v Notts 266-8)

Haseeb Hameed's epic innings comes to an end at New Road.

The Notts opener edges Pears captain Joe Leach behind. He spent exactly 400 minutes and 304 balls at the crease.

But Notts remain in trouble, they're 170 behind with two wickets in hand. Can they get another 21 to avoid the follow on?

  17. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Leics v Somerset 26-1 (target 115)

A boundary apiece for Tom Lammonby and Tom Abell will make Somerset feel a bit better.

They wont want to hang around chasing this small target.

    89 more runs needed.

WICKETpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Thomason b Bess 10 (Sussex 221 & 45-1) v Yorkshire 150 & 305)

Dom Bess makes the first breakthrough for Yorkshire to remove Aaron Thomason.

It's a needless exit for the Sussex opener who swings and misses as he comes out his crease to take-on a ball from Bess.

In a game which looks like it is going to go to the wire, that has potential to be a moment Sussex look back on and regret.

WICKETpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Wheater c Vihari b Miles 30 (Warwickshire 284 v Essex 295 & 93-6)

    Essex are six down!

Craig Miles gets Adam Wheater with a short ball, caught by Hanuma Vihari deep in the leg side, to break a stand of 57 with Dan Lawrence.

Essex's lead is 104. What can they stretch that to as Simon Harmer comes in at eight?

  20. Postpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    Northants 364 v Glamorgan 407 & 56-2

After a confident start, two quick wickets have put a slightly different complexion on this one.

After removing David Lloyd a short time ago, Nathan Buck also takes care of Andrew Balbirnie who didn't get off the mark from ten balls faced.

Great stuff from Buck who is 2-9 from his five overs and he's got Glamorgan stuttering.
