  3. 6 runs

for Burgesspublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Essex v Warwickshire 92-5

    Intent from Warwickshire's wicketkeeper!

Michael Burgess swats Simon Harmer over long on for six. The ball was outside off stump.

The Essex spinner won't like that at all as Tom Westley fetches the ball from the stand.

  4. Raining at Wantage Roadpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Northants v Lancs 59-0

That restart in Northampton won't be happening.

  5. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Hants 176-5 v Leics

The rain has returned at The Ageas Bowl and off they trundle.

  6. Restart at Derbypublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Derbys 30-0 v Durham

Back under way at The Incora County Ground after a delay of almost three hours.

Billy Godleman and Brooke Guest are the men in the middle for the hosts.

62 overs to go. I'd say there's about a 0.1% chance we'll get all those in.

Hampshire captain James Vince was beginning to look in good touch, belting Chris Wright for three fours in the previous over.

But now he's out, lbw to Foxes seamer Ed Barnes.

The hosts have gone from 102-1 to 172-5 either side of lunch.

  8. 14:30 BST restart at Wantage Roadpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

Dom Sibley wicketImage source, Rex Features

Warwickshire are in deep trouble now...

Dom Sibley snicks Sam Cook to slip and is on his way for 43.

A decent return from his fractured finger for the England opener, but he'll be frustrated he couldn't go on.

  10. Seven to Sibleypublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Essex v Warwickshire 75-4

You don't see that very often.

Dom Sibley flicks Sam Cook deep into the leg side, they run three, the ball is tossed in to wicketkeeper Adam Wheater who flings the ball at the stumps and it goes away for four overthrows.

Seven off that delivery and Sibley is up to 40.

  11. Restart at The Ageas Bowlpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Hants 144-4 v Leics

    James VinceImage source, Rex Features

    Back under way in Southampton.

Experienced pair James Vince and Liam Dawson are in the middle for Hampshire.

  12. 14:00 BST inspection at Wantage Roadpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Northants v Lancs 59-0

They weren't quite ready at 13:40 but it's a quick turnaround for the next inspection in Northampton.

  13. 14:40 inspection at Canterburypublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Kent v Glamorgan

Perhaps the most frustrating element of cricket simply waiting for grass to dry.

They've got to wait a little longer in Kent.

  14. 14:10 BST restart at The Ovalpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Surrey 95-0 v Middlesex

It's not going to be too long until we're back under way in SE11.

What a day Peter Siddle is having!

The former Australia paceman picks up his third wicket, pinning Sam Hain lbw with one that nipped back in to the right-hander.

Siddle has 3-10 from 8.1 overs. Brilliant spell.

  17. Postpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Essex v Warwickshire 55-3

England opener Dom Sibley resumes for his county side after the interval at Chelsmford.

The 25-year-old was hugely watchful in the morning session making 28 off 90 balls.

Big rebuilding job for the Bears to do this afternoon.

  18. Postpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

Right, the only game that's getting back under way on time after lunch is at Chelmsford.

Various delays and inspections in the other seven games.

We do have a restart time at The Ageas Bowl - 13:55 BST.

  19. 'Spectators made to wait'published at 13:38 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

Kent v Glamorgan - no play before lunch, wet outfield

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Kent and Glamorgan are meant to be playing in front of spectators for the first time since September 2019 but they’re having to wait a little longer.

There’s been no rain this morning in Canterbury but last night’s downpours have left the outfield still soggy, with the umpires calling a fourth inspection at 13:35 BST.

So the hundreds of Kent members who’ve turned up in grey, chilly conditions are quietly taking in the sight of nothing much happening.

A brutal reminder of the perils of watching, or not watching, Championship cricket - and with gale force winds on the way tomorrow!

  20. Postpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 20 May 2021

    Lunch: Northants v Lancashire 59-0

I'm not sure how much luck BBC East presenter James Burridge is going to get over the next few days either, although they are having an inspection at 13:40 BST.

It really has been unrelenting this month.
