It happened 20 minutes ago but there's still discussion going on in the Edgbaston pressbox about exactly how Rob Yates was out.

Was it caught behind or lbw?

A check with the scorers confirms that it did go down as lbw. But, as he pushed forward to James Fuller, the Warwickshire left-hander appeared to have got outside the line of off stump - and the way the ball whistled through to Hampshire wicket keeper Tom Alsop who took and celebrated the catch indicated an inside edge.

Either way, as the old timers still maintain, if the umpire says you're out, you're out, and Yates has gone just 23 runs short of what would have been a fourth ton in six County Championship games at Edgbaston this summer.

  4. Derbyshire follow onpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 8 September 2021

    Derbyshire 340 v Leicestershire 528

Derbyshire have just been bowled out with a first-innings deficit of 188.

    Bohannon lbw b Paterson 8 (Notts v Lancashire 138-3 - target 444)

    And another for Notts.

Dane Paterson pins new man Josh Bohannon leg before to round off a brilliant first hour for the hosts.

Lancashire need another 306 runs to win. It's looking less and less likely.

  6. DURHAM BEAT GLAMORGANpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 8 September 2021
    Breaking

    Durham (503-8 dec) beat Glamorgan (97 & 364) by an innings & 42 runs

Glamorgan fought in that second innings, but it was always going to be a huge task after conceding a first-innings deficit of 406.

Paul Coughlin finishes the game by dismissing last man Michael Hogan to end with 5-64 and nine wickets in this Division Two match.

  7. 100 runs

    Division Three latest

Sussex opener Tom Haines has just gone to his century off only 111 balls.

The hosts are 151-1 replying to Middlesex's 676-5 declared. The stuff of nightmares for bowlers on the south coast.

Derbyshire are 335-9 against Leicestershire. They still need another 44 to avoid the follow-on.

    Yates lbw b Fuller 77 (Warwickshire 157-3 - target 296 v Hampshire)

This isn't over yet though, Hampshire will sense something after that wicket.

Two big shouts in Brad Wheal's latest over.

First, the Hampshire man has Rob Yates edging one over Joe Weatherley in the slips.

And a couple of balls later he rattles Sam Hain on the pads. A huge appeal but nothing given. Probably going down leg.

Not a cloud in the sky but the ball is doing something as Warwickshire pass 150.
