The home side have a deficit of 278 and the follow-on is surely inevitable.

    Northamptonshire 183 & 108-5 v Durham 400

    Oh hello.

We really look on for a result now at Northants.

Adam Rossington is the latest to fall, edging Matty Potts to the slips.

Potts has three wickets in the innings, with two coming after lunch.

  6. Leicestershire press on after lunchpublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

A big dismissal with Northants 115 runs away from making Durham bat again.

  8. Amla stands firm for Surreypublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    D2: Surrey 153-8 v Essex 439

    Hashim AmlaImage source, Getty Images

It's South African against South African at the Kia Oval with Simon Harmer wheeling away for Essex and Hashim Amla leading the Surrey resistance.

Amla has batted for three and a quarter hours so far and is 84 not out, with Dan Moriarty yet to score at the other end.

The follow-on will presumably be enforced when Essex take the last two wickets, but do they have it in them to pick up another 10 to win the game?

The County Championship title will be decided next week, with Hampshire, Warwickshire, Lancashire and Nottinghamshire still in contention. Get in touch and let us know how you view your team's chances.

Here are a couple of opinions to start us off:

From @sweepsbrush: "I am confident of beating hampshire if @jimmy9, external is back for the game. It's @lancscricket, external for the taking. #bbccricket, external"

From @iainlindley: "I fear that @lancscricket, external are going to miss out on the championship by a whisker, and then it’ll be thanks to the appalling shambles at Headingley earlier in the season which cost the club at least a point."

  10. wicket

    WICKET D'Oliveira c Bamber b Roland-Jones 2published at 13:18 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    Middlesex 144 & 247 v Worcestershire 171 & 51-4

    Soft dismissal.

This is a terrible shot in the circumstances straight after lunch.

Toby Roland-Jones bowls a standard wide delivery and Brett D'Oliveira chips it straight to mid-off.

Middlesex are back in this game.

  12. Postpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    Middlesex 144 & 247 v Worcestershire 171 & 46-3

Play has just restarted after lunch at Lord's where we're set for an exciting finish.

Worcestershire need another 175 runs to win while Middlesex require seven wickets.

Gareth Roderick (21) is joined by Brett D'Oliveira (two) in the middle.

  13. 'Slim chance' for Leicestershirepublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    D3: Leicestershire 375-4 v Sussex 359

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex commentator

A partnership of 248 between centurions Hassan Azad and Lewis Hill, has put Leicestershire in with a very slim chance of victory

The home side lead by 16 with 65 overs left to be bowled in the match, and will be looking to accelerate towards a declaration after lunch

Sussex only have 10 fit batsman with Fynn Hudson Prentice sustaining a broken hand in the first innings, but on a good pitch they should be more than capable of saving this game..

  14. Conditions improving at Wantage Roadpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    D2: Northamptonshire 187 & 97-3 v Durham 400

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

We started the final day at Wantage Road in misty and murky gloom but now the lights are off and the sun is out - and that means batting might be easier for the hosts, who still trail by 120, as the day unfolds.

The wickets have been shared around. Matty Potts saw off Emilio Gay for 26 after he edged to Scott Borthwick at second slip. He looked plumb a few deliveries before that but for some reason was given not out.

Ricardo Vasconcelos then edged Chris Rushworth to the keeper on 24 to give the bowler his 55th championship wicket of the season.

Just before lunch Rob Keogh fell lbw to Ben Raine, a ball after the bowler called the keeper to the stumps to put pressure on the batsman. The delivery did look to be sliding down leg side, so perhaps he was a tad unfortunate.

  15. Seam continues to dominate at Lord'spublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    D3: Middlesex 144 & 247 v Worcestershire 171 & 46-3 - lunch

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

The pitch continues to draw the attention at Lord's as Middlesex appear to have taken a step towards victory.

The hosts' last four wickets fell quickly this morning with Luke Hollman, who registered his maiden 10-fer last week, falling just short of a first 50 - a day before his 21st birthday.

Seam has dominated in this match since the first ball and again today the batting is under huge pressure.

Toby Roland-Jones rolled back the years bowling Jack Haynes just before lunch - nearly five years to the day that his hat-trick helped Middlesex win the title.

Unless Worcestershire can find a couple of big partnerships today then the battle for top spot in the third tier will be between Kent and Middlesex at Canterbury next week.

  16. Happy anniversary for Red Rosepublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

Ten years ago today, Lancashire became county champions for the ninth time (*yes, they only shared the title in 1950....) and yesterday's win at Taunton has given them a great chance of reaching double figures.

How confident are you, Lancashire fans, that the title is coming your way again? Tweet us at #bbccricket and let us know.

    D3: Leicestershire 374-4 v Sussex 359

Leicestershire have lost a couple of wickets since play began an hour late at the Uptonsteel County Ground.

Lewis Hill was caught at long leg off Henry Crocombe, after hitting two sixes and 15 fours in his 145, ending a third-wicket stand of 248 with Hassan Azad.

And Azad followed two overs later for 152, uppercutting to third man where sub fielder Bertie Foreman again made no mistake.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 15 September 2021

    Godleman c Singh b Gilchrist 27 (Derbsyhire 156 & 61-4 v Kent 285 & 211-2 dec)

Kent have been in inspired form since the second phase of this summer's Championship began and they are heading for victory at Derby after Billy Godleman pulls a catch to Jas Singh at square leg.

Wayne Madsen went in the previous over, lbw to Harry Podmore for 13, and Derbyshire need another 280, with Matt Critchley and Tom Wood now together in the middle.
