    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 146-1

Warwickshire captain Will Rhodes takes ten balls to get off the mark but he sends one to the boundary off Jack Blatherwick to get up and running.

Coming in at 133-1 is a lovely position for a number three.

TV pictures show members of the Warwickshire backroom staff sat in their dressing room in the pavilion with woolly hats on. Despite the sunshine, it tells you that winter is looming on the horizon.

Rob Yates is now 82 not out after successive boundaries off Tom Bailey.

    The breakthrough Lancashire desperately needed.

Tom Bailey has Dom Sibley plumb LBW and the opener has to go. A good reward for some fine bowling this morning from Lancashire's leading wicket-taker this summer.

  8. Yates in the mood againpublished at 10:45 British Summer Time 29 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 133-0

Watchful in defence, but when Jack Blatherwick overpitches, Rob Yates crashes it through the covers for four.

Now into the seventies, Yates must be thinking about getting a hundred at Lord's.

  10. Sibley slowly finding his form againpublished at 10:41 British Summer Time 29 September 2021

    Lancashire 78, Warwickshire 129-0

    Dom SibleyImage source, PA Media

It has been a disappointing summer for Warwickshire opener Dom Sibley after losing his place in the England side.

But, since the County Championship restart, he has clearly been getting his game back together again.

That is now his third successive half-century as these scores show:

    3, 57

    6, 47

    11, 45

    56, 50

    57*

Admittedly his side were in the psychological ascendancy yesterday against a weakened Lancashire attack without Jimmy Anderson, Saqib Mahmood and Danny Lamb.

But there was clearly a lot more freedom in his stroke making. He has the look of a man rediscovering his lost confidence.

  11. Long day in the fieldpublished at 10:37 British Summer Time 29 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 128-0

Because of the bad light and rain interruptions on day one, 104 overs are scheduled for today.

Lunch will be taken at 12:40 and tea at 15:30. The scheduled close is at 18:00 assuming the light remains good enough.

It could be a long day in the field for Lancashire if they are not careful as the last ball of Jack Blatherwick's over is sent to the fence by Dom Sibley.

Well played Dom Sibley. Not quite as flashy as Rob Yates, but effective nonetheless.

A rank full toss from Jack Blatherwick's second ball is sent down to fine leg for four by Sibley to bring up his half-century from 101 balls.

  13. Fast start requiredpublished at 10:31 British Summer Time 29 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 120-0

Right, Rob Yates to face Tom Bailey. Lancashire really need the sort of morning Warwickshire enjoyed yesterday.

Beautiful autumnal sunshine at Lord's as Bailey runs in from the Pavilion End. He beats the outside edge a couple of times as he opens with a probing maiden.

  15. Miles plugs 'leaks' with 'special' five-forpublished at 10:23 British Summer Time 29 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 120-0 - play starts 10:30

Pace bowler Craig Miles had one of the best days of his career as his 5-28 helped bowl out Lancashire in just 27.5 overs at the start of the Bob Willis Trophy match at Lord's.

The 27-year-old has now taken five or more wickets in a first-class innings on 17 occasions - but it was the first time he had done so at the home of cricket.

"It's a pretty special one, and to do it in a trophy final as well is really good," he told BBC CWR.

"The big thing for me has always been my economy. I've always taken wickets at regular intervals but that's often been covering up being a bit leaky. I feel I've been a lot more consistent this year."

  17. 'When you put a Lancashire shirt on, it matters'published at 10:17 British Summer Time 29 September 2021

    Lancashire 78 v Warwickshire 120-0 - play starts 10:30

The opening 45 minutes of the Bob Willis Trophy final left Lancashire feeling "shell shocked", assistant coach Mark Chilton admitted.

They found themselves 12-6 after nine overs as Craig Miles and Liam Norwell tore through their top order.

"Nobody wants to end the season in this manner and every time you put a Lancashire shirt on, it matters, regardless of what you're playing for and we just need to reconnect with that. We've got a real battle to get ourselves back in the game," Chilton told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"In September, the first hour is challenging to bat. We'll hope we can make inroads in that first hour (on day two) and keep the lead attainable."

Unlike Wellington Road, which leads down to the home of cricket from St John's Wood tube station, it was all one-way traffic at Lord's yesterday.

First, Warwickshire's bowlers skittled Lancashire for 78 - and then their openers steered them to 120-0 before bad light and rain ended play.

How will the Red Rose county respond today? Their attack is going to need to produce something special if morning conditions are in their favour.

Welcome to our coverage of day two of the Bob Willis Trophy final. Play is due to start at 10:30.
