Root races through his over, five runs coming from it.

I saw Felix White and Mattchin Tendulkar outside the ground this morning. I gave Felix a Covid-secure fist-bump. It made me feel like I was basking in his reflected glory.
Joe Root is going to have a bowl.

New Zealand are still sticking with their normal batting line-up with BJ Watling preferred to the big-hitting Colin de Grandhomme.
It looks a good decision too as the wicketkeeper-bat guides a lovely cut for four early in his innings.

The angle, because of that last-minute jump out from Wood, meant the ball went wider of Taylor and he went hard at it.

That's a good catch from Bracey.
Taylor c Bracey b Wood 33 (NZ 133-5)
Ross Taylor's strange innings comes to an end as he edges Mark Wood through to the wicketkeeper. It's a good catch from James Bracey, who has to dive across to his right with no slip in place.
It's not going to help England win but that wicket may slow New Zealand in their push for victory.

There wasn't an obvious outside edge there... It was strange, Anderson appealed but I think he thought Taylor had hit it.

Oh England! Ross Taylor should be out. Jimmy Anderson comes into the attack and hits him on the pad. There's a bit of an appeal - not a great one - and Michael Gough shakes his head. The replays show if England had reviewed it would have been out.

This game is starting to look very much on. Even if New Zealand bat for another 15 overs there'd be 70 left in the day.

That's the hockey shot again from Taylor. It sometimes can result in a fine top edge. I'd like to see him play the odd cricket shot in between the hockey ones, if I'm being honest.

That is an extraordinary shot.
It's gone in the opposite direction to where he aimed but Ross Taylor has fluked a six over the slips.

There were always a lot of questions around would New Zealand just bat the day out, but Wagner indicated from the third over that he was interested in playing his shots.
It has been an entertaining first hour...

It seems Wood shouted "Asprilla" not Shearer as he made that cheeky side-footed run-out attempt. What a man.
Hello... Henry Nicholls takes up the attack, charging Stuart Broad and slicing the ball for four. Broad responds with a big inswinger which flicks the pad and goes for four leg byes. New Zealand are on the charge.
