I think they'd prefer not to lose, James. Let's not forget New Zealand have bowled very well and haven't allowed England to just smash it around.

Skipper Joe Root takes a couple to begin the session.

Would people prefer if England lost going for the boring draw or lost going out all guns blazing with an attempt to win the game?

The players are re-emerging. England will be hoping for no more of these...

There aren't too many clips to show you from Dom Sibley's 83-ball 19 not out.

Will Green: England are a young team missing (at least) three of their world-class players. The idea that they could just go out and knock off 274 in two sessions against one of the best attacks in the world is crazy.

It wasn't a pretty watch in that session, I'll admit. It's not the swashbuckling finale we might have dreamed of.

England are 56-2 after 32 overs.

Rory Burns made 25 from 81 balls and Zak Crawley a 25-ball two. Crawley has made four runs across two innings and has been out playing loose drives on both occasions.

There's a lot of criticism of England's approach being sent our way. I'm going to cut them a bit of slack. It's a lot easier to say "just go for it" when you're not going to be the one under fire if they lose.

    Please don't @ me.

Right, I'm done for this Test. I've only claimed two England wickets, so you better hope Matthew Henry doesn't take any more...

Is it better Sibley goes? I'm sorry, I don't mean that in a bad way, Mr and Mrs Sibley. But is he harming the cause?

As a reminder, the teams can shakes hands with 15 overs left. England's plan would have been to bat 'normally' for a period of time, then see where they are in the chase. Even now, it feels quite some way beyond them. From New Zealand's point of view, four wickets for nothing would do very nicely indeed.
