We're going to end this live page now. We'll be back tomorrow morning, but probably not for very long with New Zealand looking certain to wrap up a comfortable victory.
England did bowl the right length for the most part but New Zealand's batters just showed the resilience that England's don't have.
Post update
Wood and Stuart Broad were both dismissed before the end of the day, though, as England closed on 122-9.
That represents a lead of just 37.
Post update
Mark Wood did provide some entertain and ensured that New Zealand would have to bat again.

England's poor batting continued after the tea break.
They slipped to 76-7 and still trailed by nine runs at this point.
'I've got a lot of faith in the bowling attack'
More from Chris Silverwood on Sky Sports: "We will just give James Bracey lots of support. It’s been like
that for the last few days. We want to give him lots of support and help to
give him the best chance of coming back and succeeding.
"I was happy with the bowlers. The New Zealand batters applied
themselves. Our bowlers didn’t give in. Stuart Broad was fantastic yesterday.
I’ve got a lot of faith in the bowling attack - it is just about getting those big
first-innings runs.
"The players will be taking their own lessons from this. But
it is about seeing the way New Zealand have applied themselves, and how we can use that
to help us become number one in the world. They have been fantastic. They’ve
got in, got greedy and got big runs. They’ve played exceptionally well."
Post update
England's second innings didn't start well, though, with Rory Burns and Dom Sibley both out in a six-over spell before tea.
Post update
England fought back well after lunch to bowl New Zealand out for 388.
That was a lead of 85. At one stage is looked like it would be well over 100.
'New Zealand have given us a lesson'
England head coach Chris Silverwood on Sky Sports: "It’s disappointing – it’s not what we wanted. New Zealand
have given us a lesson in how to be the number one side in the world. Our young
batsmen can learn off their batsmen, and we knew it was going to be difficult
coming into this series with a young batting line-up. It is a great lesson for
our guys, to see what they need to do better to be in that position one day.
"We need to work on our batting, there’s no point running
away from it. We need to get in the nets and figure it out.
"It’s a little bit of technique and mental. It’s not about
telling people how to play the game for me, it’s how you use what you’ve got.
They’ve got to get in the nets and work with the coaches to find something that
works with their technique."

Bitterly disappointing. England bowled OK. New Zealand wanted someone to get a ton but they didn't and they got about par.
You thought it'd be tough for 20 overs for England but not overly tough - about average for English conditions.
They didn't bat well enough. They have a fragile line-up - if they lose one wicket then they quickly lose three or four.

New Zealand play with great concentration for long periods and you have to be very disciplined against such sides. England aren't.

Tom Blundell was dropped by James Bracey on 0 and made the most of it, going on to score a well made 34.
On the stroke of lunch Mark Wood managed to pick up the wicket of Henry Nicholls.
Post update
The morning started with New Zealand attacking. They scored 63 wickets without losing any wickets in the first hour with Ross Taylor moving to another Test half-century.
He was then dismissed in the first over after the drinks break.
That is a bitterly disappointing day from an England perspective. Not to take anything away from New Zealand, who have been excellent.
Post update
It has been a disappointing day for England. They did well to take the final seven New Zealand wickets, but there were more dropped catches and then a sub-standard batting display.
They are facing a heavy defeat.

I'm trying to work out how New Zealand got so much more swing than England.
I know they bowled a fuller length but did England have to drag their lengths back because it wasn't swinging?
Post update
The New Zealand balcony are applauding their players off the pitch.
They deserve it. They have been superb.
