All about Steve: Win the toss, bat first and lose a Test match and series in 3 days at home in warm sunny conditions is "impressive", even by England's recent standards.

Rory Burns made a mistake. Dom Sibley was squared up. Zak Crawley was beaten on the inside edge. Ollie Pope was squared up again and fell over to the off side. Dan Lawrence didn't have the right line up. And that's another error from James Bracey, he hasn't given himself a second line of defence with his pads.

I'm not taking anything away from the bowling. But there are a lot of mistakes in those six wickets.

I would genuinely love to know what Joe Root is thinking right now.

He can't be impressed with his side at all.

That's a mistake. That shot is not a good option. The ball before turned a bit more so maybe he thought he could go with the turn.

But it was flatter and quicker so he's ended up sweeping it onto his stumps.

He was deceived for pace by a spinner.

That was the right move to bring on the spinner indeed.

James Bracey's bad fortune continues. He furious with himself.

    WHAT IS THAT!?!

Wow. Wow. Wow. That isn't a great shot at any time, but at 71-5 when you're fighting to stay in a Test match? Crazy.

James Bracey shuffles outside off stump, looking to sweep, but reads the line wrong and ends up gloving/flicking the ball onto his stumps. That is all very ugly.

England are still trailing by 14. They are in real, real trouble.

Stuart Mitchell: Stokes/Buttler walk back into this side. Root is Root and will find a way to score. Burns this innings aside has played well. Where are our other three batsmen coming from for Ind/Aus? Lawrence looks a better shout than Pope but Sibley and Crawley don't inspire confidence.

Joe Root picks up his first boundary with a fine flick. It has been a real battle for him so far. He's on nine off 51 deliveries.

There are still 24 overs, or more realistically an hour and 19 minutes, left in the day's play.

New Zealand's bowling performance shows you how valuable it is to be able to swing the ball just before it bounces.

This is England's seventh Test of the year.

They've got another eight to play in 2020 - five against India and three against Australia.

That number could well be 40 come the New Year celebrations.

England have already had 18 ducks in Test cricket this year. That's the second most they've had in a calendar year in Test history. And it's June.

Just a single from Neil Wagner's latest over as a thinck inside edge from James Bracey runs away.

Wagner is finding a little bit of movement, and that is helping him zone in on the pads of Joe Root.

James Bracey just needs to get through these first 10 or 15 balls and feel bat on ball and he'll feel a lot better.
